Financing for Surgery

Hello All,

I am new to this website, and I know that I need to do something about my weight. I have tried pretty much everything, as far as dieting goes. My fiancee has had Gastric Bypass and looks great, he reconmmended me getting the lap band. Unfortunately, I am looking at doing this on my own as far as the payment goes because I am one of the unfortunate ones who does not have insurance. Does anyone have advice? I was diagonosed with high chlorestoral last Jan. at the age of 24. Thank you guys, and I look forward to being a part of this community.

1) There are several companies that make medical loans, such as www.carecredit.com  Just google loans for medical procedures.
2) Look into having it done in Mexico, it's much cheaper.
3) Most doctors and hospitals have 2 prices, 1 for those with insurance another for self-pay patients

I'm not sure about financing but I would think if you are paying for it yourself it would be better to go ahead and have bypass.  LapBand is cheaper but the fills can get expensive.  A friend of mine had lapband and now can't afford the fills.  She said hers cost $250 a fill and she has insurance but I don't think it will cover the fills only the surgery.  Go figure.

Just from this I'm glad I didn't choose the band.
Going for my RNY. a few months ago, for some reason I kept calling it Y2K instead of RNY.

The band is a restriction on your stomach.  They will add fluid to the band to make the upper part of the stomach smaller so you eat less.  My friend had her band and ended up pregnant after just 6 months.  Now with 3 kids she can't afford right now to go get fills to help her continue to lose weight so she is just trying it do it on her own.

When you got for your seminar they'll give you several finaning options.
