Hi! I had my RNY revision in Dec of 09 with Tyler Bariatrics.
I'm not sure what insurance you are going through, so it may be different for you, than it was for me....
I started my journey with Dr. B around July 08, i personally took all my medical records to the office, i didn't depend on anyone to fax or mail my stuff to the right place....i drove to 3 different towns in Oklahoma to get my stuff....its worth it to do the legwork yourself...
My original date of surgery was Oct. 08, it did take a little time...however my insurance through in a monkey-wrench that put the surgery off by 7 months...at the 7 month mark i had a stroke so i through my own little monkey-wrench in the mix...so after recovering from everything i finally had it in Dec of last year.
Dr. B is a very busy surgeon, he operates on WLS patients at both hospitals in Tyler as well as his general surgery patients.
I know its hard to wait, but as they say good things come to those who wait...
Again depending on insurance and other paperwork factors it could take a while...i would politely keep my name in their ear....they are very nice, but busy people...
I couldn't expect anyone to understand why it takes me so long to do what i do (when i had a job), i used to work home health...every patient wants to be first on the list....by the time i get to the 7th one its no where near morning anymore....
I'm sure they couldn't come to your job and tell you how to do it any better than you could go to theres and tell them how to do it to keep everyone happy..
Be patient my friend...its so worth it....I'm almost 4 months out and Ive lost 55 lbs so far...keep in mind I'm a revision and we aren't supposed to lose as fast....you are getting a top notch surgeon...
Good luck on your journey....while you wait, research and read all you can on this surgery..

No .....they had nothing to do with my first surgery.
I had VBG or stomach stapling back in 2001ish with a Dr. in Shreveport La. I was his 5th patient to operate on...I had no success at all with that surgery, I lost 40 lbs and that was it....
Dr. B did a revision and repaired 5 hernias at the same time. He is my saving Grace...I have been so miserable and in pain for so long with those hernias....Now im like a school girl...you cant keep me down...i feel great.
I was BCBS Fed, so im thinking the Medicaid thing may be whats holding you up...after all it is government regulated and we all know how the Gvmt works....lol
The next time you talk with Freida ask her what to expect, how this whole process works. Its sometimes easier to wait patiently when you know "why" your waiting....I know your frustrated, but in your nicest sunday school voice ask for details.
Feel free to ask me anything WLS related...lol
Like I said my journey was over a year and a half...but it was so worth the wait....
Talk to you soon my friend...Im gonna be seeing Dr. B next week so I'll be in your neck of the woods, if you would like to meet over coffee or something give me a holler....
