Revision

okay..first off..you lost a HUGE amt of wright, s let's get that word FAILURE just right off the books..and forget tryig to place BLAME on the doctor, you, or anyone else. It serves no useful purpose. I don't care if you and your whole neighborhood had surgery on the same day/same day/same table/same doctor...EVERYONE can have DIFERENT results. That's just how God made each of us=similar, but of so DIFFERENT.

I, too, had RNY in 2002, and I do know the surgery was done a bit differently "back then"..not a whole lot..but has improved some now...BUT...what has not changed is the body's ability to "heal" itself inside, at 1-2 years out, and that's when we begin to absorb those dang calories again.

Our stories are so similar, I could be reading my own. In MY case, it was MY brain that needed the firsr revision. I lose 70 lbs of regain-with the love and support of the people RIGHT HERE. You have come to the right place.I am now almost 8 years out and STILL not at that magical "number goal"..but I'm HEALTHY and HAPPY..and not giving up!!

Good luck, in whatever avenue you choose, and please hollar if I can do anything to help.

My understanding with Aetna is they will cover 1 weight loss procedure per person.  However, if you can provide documentation that your surgery is not working as expected or documentation that your surgeon was doing the procedure incorrectly they will consider revision.  You will still have to go through the hoops of psych. evaluation,  nutritionist visits, etc.  but if you can do all that it would be worth it.

At the time I had my lap-band (2008), I was told my only options for surgery were RNY or lap-band.  I know they have been in talks for VSG, but don't know the outcome of this.  Hopefully, they will cover whatever you choose to have.  Every employer's plan differs in some way, so just make sure you know what your plan requires.

I had Aetna in 05 when I had my RNY and they DID cover revisions through my husband's insurance.   You probably just need to call them and talk with someone.   I would APPEAL that No NO No !!!   Sometimes they just tell you things are NOT covered hopeing that you will throw in the towel.    DON'T GIVE UP !!!! Keep fighting for that revision.   As for what surgery they will cover.....Some are covering the sleeve now.   It is a awesome surgery.   I doubt that Aetna covers DS  but you could check it out.   When I had my surgery all that was covered was RNY and Lap band.   Good luck to you and please don't be a stranger here !!!
