Da Da Daaaaaaaaaaa - Update!
Hello my favorite Texas peeps!
Juuuuuuuuust wanted to update you guys on Eric. He's doing really well. Went into the OR at 7:15 and he was finished up around 3ish. Everything went well except for a handful of tricky lymph nodes that caused bleeding. He only needed one blood transfusion later into surgery so that's good! Everything that came out looked free of cancer (it wasn't scar tissue - it was live tissue that appeared cancer free) so that's awesome! We'll be getting pathology reports on all the nodes in a couple weeks to confirm. I'm confident there wasn't any cancer because his tumor markers have been normal for 2 months, this last round being the lowest of the bunch - and that was 7 weeks after chemo ended! WHOO HOO!
All in all - he actually looks better after really invasive surgery then he did during chemo. It's really weird. He's got more color, a very playful attitude (still!), and is just with it. He said as sore as he was from the open incision he actually feels better. I believe it. Although his incision IS about 12 inches long. Eeep. Gotta love having a loooong torso. And a morphine pain pump.
I'm spending the night and we'll hopefully have him up and around tomorrow. He hates the NG tube (poor guy!) but he's not having a lot of output with it so they should hopefully remove it tomorrow. For his sake, I hope they do.
Overall, a really good day. I can't believe I'm saying that but maybe I just feel like this is it. Maybe no more chemo, no more surgeries - we just might be done. It's an awesome feeling of relief. I don't know what tomorrow holds but today holds promise of something better. And that's all I need.
Thanks for the thoughts and prayers everyone! We love you!
