Can I whine about my anxiety??

I don't have a date yet for my surgery...we are waiting on my husband to get approved cos we want to have our surgery done at the same time. Sounds silly but truly since we have to have this done in another city, and I have to be off work during that time period, we need to do it together.
If he has it done later I can't be off again and he can't be alone in a strange city to have this WLS.
So it's all about timing...in the mean time I have been approved for surgery. His is being delayed cos of a doctor's medical note missing etc. and we are working on that too.
My anxiety now is about getting ready for the surgery....

I am trying to make some anticipatory changes now...I stopped all sodas about 2 months ago and am just now getting to the point where I don't miss them...I'm anxious over the thought of trying to stop solid foods and go to the liquid protein now so that I can get ready for surgery...

For those of you that have had WLS, how did you stop the anxiety over all of this?  I started removing food from our pantry and boxing it up to give to our son...that action made me a wreck and I had to leave the room. LOL I realize that I'm anxious over the idea of not having the usual foods in my house. How do you get past that?  I have ordered the stuff from Unjury and I have started mixing it in my bottles of Glucerna and I like it...but I still crave solid food and can't seem to just walk away yet.
Is this common?  Sorry to be so whiney about it....do I just accept that I will be anxious until I have the surgery?  Thanks for listening to me whine today!

I sure didn't get rid of any food in the house before surgery (but I was the only one having WLS) nor did I even attempt to do any liquid diet until the 2 weeks before my surgery date - then I went cold turkey.  It wasn't so bad after the first 2 days and I was so excited to be having my surgery that I didn't mind since I knew it would only be for 2 weeks.

What did you get rid of?  Unhealthy snack-type food?  If so, that is a good thing.  Kudos on getting off the sodas beforehand - I did that too and I am glad I did.

Don't worry about craving solid food after surgery - you won't.  In fact, you will have to remember to eat since you won't have the usual hunger signals for a while (unfortunately for most they come back).

You will have to be extra diligent in stocking up on the mushy-type food since you will both be recovering.  I didn't worry about it too much since I could send hubby to the store for anything I needed (and I still over-bought).

Why did giving away your food make you a wreck?  Do you believe you will never be able to eat regular food again?  You will be surprised at how quickly you will transition to normal food - just way less of it and you won't miss it along the way.  Some things may give you fits for a while, some you may never be able to eat.  I can eat anything as long as I control the portion which is what I wanted out of my surgery, but everybody is different.

Feel free to whine to us anytime you like.   We who have had our surgery have probably had the same fears and anxiety that you are feeling.    I wouldn't get on a liquid diet till your husband has his date and the doctor tells you both to get on it.   Just cut back on calories.....I did 1200 cal a day for 3 months prior to my WLS and lost 25 lbs then lost another 15 on my 2 week pre op liquid diet.     If the foods that you are getting rid of are unhealthy by all means get rid of them.    If I didn't have a teenager in my home trust me I would never bring chips or junk into my home.    My husband doesn't need them that is for sure.   LOL  Just  relax and breathe......take it easy.   As Sarah said....you will be surprised how little you will eat after your WLS and how quickly you will eat "normal" foods.     I know after surgery.....I would get full on a couple of teaspoons of foods.   Good luck to you and your hubby.   I know really soon we will see you posting a date for your surgery.

Hugs and blessings~~~ Vivian
