Aldi Supermarkets have come to DFW

Stopped by the other day.   One thing they have already done is have Walmart lower the price of milk.  Aldi's everyday price is $1.79 for a gallon.  Walmart has lowered theirs to the same in some areas.

I saw pineapples for just $.99 each.  Their version of Crystal Light is $1.74.

For those of you with kids who use cereal, their brand is $1.89 a box.

Bread $.69 a loaf.  Hot dog buns $.75.

We will use them, but will remember to bring our own bags.  They charge $.06 per bag.

Also, there is a deposit of $.25 to use a shopping cart.  Return it and you get your $.25 back.  That kept the parking lot clear of stray carts.

I went Thursday and loved it.  I bought a bag of oranges for $1.39, Chips for .99-1.29 bag, spiral sliced ham for 1.49/lb, 5 lbs of potatoes for 1.99, pineapple for .99, oh heck I spent $43 but had a coupon for $5 off any purchase over $25.00.

They purposely put them close to Walmat stores because they are their direct competition.  For those not familiar, they only carry their own brands.  IF they have a national brand, it's close to the same price as WM.  (I did see national brands of candy-snickers, m&m's, etc).  The stores are small and only carry 1600 of the most popular items so it's not one stop shopping but for staples, it seems to be a good deal.  They also have a double money cak guarentee.  If you aren't satisfied, they will replace the product plus give you your money back.  They also don't take CHECKS or CREDIT  CARDS.  It's cash or debit cards only.  It's cheaper for them and it moves the checkout lines faster.

Another thing I heard is the store typically has 7 to 8 employees.  Total.  Everybody helps stock.

Stephanie and George......I went there also and the manager told me that a FYI to pass along.....all their canned veggies ( store brand at Aldi ) are made by Libby's but has their labels on them.    That could save a family a ton of money too.   Canned veggies are expensive in the stores.   I was impressed with Aldi and I will be back there to shop.

Can you believe they built their distribution center in Denton but NOT ONE STORE?!

I have to drive to Frisco or Carrollton or Ft Worth or...

Tell me, are they really significantly cheaper than Walmart? Across the line, I mean?

Probably 10% or better cheaper, across the board.  But like Stephanie says, limited products.  In our case, one is opening with 3 miles of the house, so it will definitely be worth it.  If you have to travel, not so much.

Please tell me where in Ft Worth I can find it. I'd go just for the $.99 pineapples.

thank you for the list.
I'll just take my wheelchair, grab a cart, and they can all get out of my way!
I hope the cat food is cheaper too. >^..^<

I just went back with my husband and spent another $35 and got another $5 off.  I am really impressed so far with their prices.  I noticed our WM has also lowered the price of eggs to match theirs too, so a little competition might go a long way.  Just know your prices before you go cuz they have individual "Chicken Cordon Bleu's" for $2.99 each which is a lot  higher than buying a box of them from Sam's or Costco.

Today I bought a FOAM CUSHION for $9.99 for my butt-I think it might be the best 10 bucks I've ever spent, lol!!!  It was one of the weird items that they sell other than groceries.
