Surgery 3/16-Pain

So...I was doing great till they gave me hydrocodone and I spent the night in the ER since I am allergic to codeine. How long does the pain last....my stomach feels like my muscles are all ripped out!?!?!

First of all, welcome to the TMB and to the loser's bench.  What kind of surgery did you have?  Different surgeries have different degrees of pain.

Did they give you anything else for the pain?  I had the same problem, and have had Ultram (it is in the same family, but you don't always have a reaction to that.) and Darvocet.  The worst of the pain is from gas.  The more you get up and walk, the better it will get.

 Hi Kim. I had a RNY. I have been taking Darvocet. I do feel "better" this evening. Drank all my liquids today and walked more. I think the throwing up left me even more sore than just the surgery.
