Slowing that fork down!
I grew up with four brothers and to be able to get dinner at the table, you had to eat fast...Then when I first started working, I never socialized at lunch so most of my lunch hours were spent shopping and running errands...Well I had to eat, so I basically would gobble my lunch down on the way back to work. That's (more years than I want to admit) a lot of bad habit to reverse....I don't use little spoons or forks and it's been hard sometimes to take smaller bites and further in between.....and I always end up done long before my family who are eating their regular size meals.
Bottom line, we went to Genghis Grill yesterday and I used chopsticks for every bite! I actually ended up being the last one done and I can't even begin to tell you the last time that happened. :)

I hear ya, Kat. I only had one brother but we ate by ourselves every night (Mom worked and got home late and Dad waited to eat with her) and we were always in competition with who could finish first, eat the most, etc. I didn't have a weight problem until years later after I had kids, but I sure developed a bad habit of wolfing down my food.
When I was early out I ate real slow with small bites but now I can eat more with less discomfort and have to be more conscious of how fast I eat. Apparently the good habits from the first 18 months didn't stick as good as I hoped. I knit and take it with me everywhere in case I get stuck somewhere waiting and have something to do. Lately I have been keeping it in my lap while I eat and making myself put my fork down and knit a bit in between every 3 or 4 bites. So far I haven't dropped any food on my knitting project Of course it helps that I can sit closer to the table now since my belly isn't in the way
