I gotta start today. I don't want to lose motivation or change my mind. Plus I'm on Spring Break after today (teacher) and need the distraction of work on my first day. I know not working is going to be hard for the rest of the days as it is but I am NOT waiting until a week from now to start. I have a VERY limited wardrobe unless I take off some lbs NOW!!! I'm not expecting it to happen in a week or even two, but any time frame is longer by a week if I start a week later :-) But we can still support each other starting a couple days apart. I'll keep posting my experience.

well since i only first read this when i posted to count me in, i decided that my first day would really be more like 1/4 of a day since i am here at work and already brought stuff for breakfast and lunch....so i will officially be starting when i get home ;-)

hang in there and DONT STARVE YOURSELF! drink a little bit of a protein shake to curb your appetite and see if that helps.

Just wanted to write in with words of encouragement.  5DPT is hard but WORTH IT.  I am on Day 5 and have lost 6 pounds already.  More importantly, I feel incredibly good and energetic.

Some practical suggestions:

For Days 1 and 2, I drank unsweetened soymilk at mealtimes here at work, because I don't have a way to make decent protein shakes here.  I bought top-of-the-line house-made cream soups from Central Market for dinner both days -- cream of mushroom on Day 1, cream of broccoli on Day 2.  These were made with real cream and fresh veggies and were very satisfying.  I didn't worry about the fat because the 5DPT website didn't say anything about that; it just said I could have cream soups!  Guess it was indeed OK because the results speak for themselves.

For Day 3, I made a nice tuna salad with good Italian tuna, chopped eggs, mayo, dill pickles, celery, jarred red peppers, and plenty of salt and pepper.  Ate that all day and was happy with it.  5DPT site says you can do the same with canned chicken if you don't like fish.

Days 4 and 5 are easier 'cause you can eat meats then.

For ALL days, I had Werther's SF caramel hard candies to suck on when things got desperate.  They are not specifically authorized on the 5DPT site, but they are only 8 calories apiece and I don't know what I would have done without them.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm hungry!!! Today is day 1. So far just tea, protein shakes and broth. Since tomorrow is Saturday, I might take the time to make myself some homemade soup. Maybe with 2% milk, black beans, and some veggies, onion and garlic. Put it in blender and viola! Oh, cook it too. It might turn out gross. But who knows. Maybe I'll actually look up a recipe. But I'm already sick of gross protein shakes. Yuk.

It is SunHarvest brand. Only 2 grams of carbs. Like 4 grams of sugar. And I'm an organic/natural type eater so SunHarvest is my store :-) And Central Market. And Whole Foods. But SunHarvest is the only close to my house.

IF you are hating your protein, PLEASE TRUST ME ON THIS. Go to GNC at 281/1604 to the left of the HEB. Get yourself a small (2 lb) tub of the MAX protein. Its in a blue container, located in the back of the store on the left facing the back wall. You will NEVER EVER want another protein again. I have the chocolate and vanilla flavors and mix it with Silk Vanilla or Chocolate Soy milk (mix and match). It is so awesome, please trust me on this. I waited way to long to get me some. And if you are already using this then nevermind :-P!!!!
