I'm back. Need help!
Hello. I need some encouragement. I am so upset. I thought I had this in the bag. I am 3.5 years post RNY and had kept off the weight no problem. Then, all of a sudden, I've put on 20 lbs. I know 20 lbs shouldn't seem like the end of the world, but I've cried all day. I have buckled down for 2 weeks now and not lost a lb. I've cut the carbs again, upped the protein, exercised 5 days a week, and nothing. I know I need to keep it up and go back to the "rules" but I feel so defeated and discouraged. Has anyone gained weight 3+ years post op and actually been successful taking it back off? I need to hear that SOMEONE has succeeded in this and that I can do it.
And to those who supported me 3 years ago, sorry I have been MIA!! I still love you!

Yes people have lost the weight that far out!! Have you tried the 5 day pouch test to jump start and get the carbs out of your system? Make sure you are logging what you eat so you know for sure your calorie intake and not just guesstimating!Do not be discouraged it took more than a week to put on give your self time and keep posting for support!

Yes Rachel people do lose it with hard work. It won't come off as quickly as before but if you follow the rules you should be able to lose it again. Start logging your intake, you might need to track for a while to really know how you are doing.
I've regained some 7-10 lbs and I need to lose too. Much going on in my life and I tend to look for comfort food, I do need to nip this in the bud now.

Rachel I am in the same boat and have been struggling BIG time. You can ask several here I have been having a really tough time. I am almost 3 years out and found my self all the sudden up exactly 20 lbs. I would love to chat more about what I discovered, what revelations and help I had to lose almost all of that 20.

Rachel, I'm 2.5 years out, so not quite where you're at, but even now I have to be careful. Just a few thoughts to share and consider.
I allow myself a 3 lb. variance on any given week.
I weigh once a week, consistently same day and see what the change is. Personally, 3 lbs. is my max, but I can fluctuate by that much in one week.
Assuming it's no****er weight (from something salty the night before), I immediately cut out processed carbs for the week.
Think of it like going back to the basics - I weigh my food at dinner, track throughout the day and see where it all lands. Make sure to get things into your daily/weekly diet that will fill you up without costing you calories, such as lettuce, bell peppers or other veggies.
So far, it's worked for me and I immediately drop the 'gained' weight.
I believe the trick is to catch it before 2 becomes 5, 5 becomes 10 and so on as it becomes defeating to look at a larger number. It sounds like you're like many people and this one just got away from you. So, take a good look at what you're doing and see what has changed. 20 lbs. won't go on overnight and it will likely take a month or more of being consistent to get the lbs. off. Don't allow 'stinkin thinkin' to take hold, get you down and prevent you from moving forward. As Oprah once said - "...own the number..." and take it from there.
