Carnival Cruisers-New info

Just got off the phone with Carnival...we earned a $75 PER ROOM shipboard credit.  Woohoo!!!

If anyone knows of anyone else that wants to go, have them contact me cuz they can still book under our name.

Since I am a virgin cruiser, tell me more about what 'cash' I need, is it best to do travelers checks or what?   How, when, where does all this work?  Do we just put it on our room tab.  Someone gimme some guidelines, k?

Becky the best thing is to use the Carnival Sail and Sign Card cuz cash is not accepted onboard ship.  Basically everything is put on your "room tab" and you will have to pay it off before you leave the ship.  It will come with a $75 per room "credit" on it for us booking as a group.  Not sure how it work with 2 "friends" sharing a room.  You would both need seperate cards and probably only one would show the credit.  You will want some cash to spend in local shops, etc in Mexico.  I just connect my sail and sign to my credit card and pay for it that way.

Steph, we are seriously considering it - can you PM me details, dates, price, who to call, codes, etc?   We need to check our calendars, but may join the group as hubby's schedule has changed :)

Depending on what type room you want, the price will vary.  If you go to Carnival's website and plug in the dates, it will give you pricing info.  The booking number is what you need to give them when you call.

While I was looking at the info on the Sail and Sign card, I noticed this...

MIAMI (February 24, 2010) - Carnival Cruise Lines is reporting record wave season bookings, with strong reservations activity for 2010 departures. As a result of the strong booking volumes, a general price increase will be implemented effective March 22 for all June, July, and August sailings.

For the period of Jan. 1 through Feb. 21, 2010, bookings were at unprecedented levels for the line's 22 ships which operate three- to 15-day voyages from a variety of convenient North American home ports.

Carnival President and CEO Gerry Cahill said, "We're seeing significantly increased volume as consumers are taking advantage of the incredible value that a Carnival cruise provides. And while pricing hasn't fully recovered to 2008 levels, we are increasing prices and will implement an across-the-board increase effective March 22."

He said that the price increases will vary by departure date but will be up to 5 percent. Cahill attributed the record booking activity to a wide range of factors, including strong travel agent partner support, targeted marketing initiatives, itinerary enhancements and the wide variety of close-to-home departure points.

Wave season typically runs from about mid-January through early spring and is traditionally the busiest, most important booking period in the cruise industry.

Wow Mari, thanks for posting.  If anyone else is considering going they might want to get it booked lickety split.

If we've booked our reservation already -  paid the deposit......etc....or even paid for it in full already -    other than the " surcharge on fuel........can they increase the cost on us between now and then ?     then we have additional $$ to pay before sailing ??
