Seeking New PCP in Garland Area

Last week I did something I have needed to do for a long time ..  pretty much fired my family doc of many years  ..   He is a good doc, generally, but his practice has just gotten too big and impersonal for my liking ..  It's like nobody there seems to know what is going on, and no one effecitvely communicates with anyone else there ..  In fact, he is rarely there himself and lets his N.P. run everything while he is gone ..   I'm a bit more used to "personal service", like what he had many years ago ..

What clinched my decision was the failure of his staff to order my usual WLS-related blood tests (they always actl ike it is such an "ordeal") ..  My surgeon also wants me to have an Upper G.I. done to check out some potential problems I'm having, and doc's office, instead of contacting the local imaging center and setting it up for me, is almost like "well, just handle it yourself" ..

Sooo .. I'm trying to find a new PCP, preferably an M.D. and near the Garland area ..  Someone who has the "personal doc" type of practice ..   (I have BC PPO ins., btw) ..  Does anyone have any recommendations?   One doc I have been looking at is Dr. David W. Carlson  in Garland, but he seems to have several negative reviews of his office staff online and some "questionable" billing issues  ..

  Thanks for your help ..

I use Dr. Christopher Kampas out of Medical City, and I live in Garland as well. He works in a practice with several other doctors, but I've never once seen one of them, I've always seen Dr. Kampas. He sits in the exam room and talks with me, genuinely cares, and never seems in a rush. I always can get in to see him pretty quickly, and the wait in the waiting and exam rooms are minimal. His nurse Tosha is the best too. :-)

I will tell you, I can't guarantee Dr. K has had a ds patient before, but I did have a feeling I was one of his first RNY patients. Dr. K has taken the time to personally talk to my surgeon's office, followed up with me on every issue I've had....even when I was having iron infusions ordered by my surgeon and gastroenterologist, he was keeping track of my progress. So this is definitely a doctor who cares and listens to his patients... So if you are willing to give him a chance, you would love him.

If you find one who has definitely had prior experience with ds patients, then go for that. But he's great!
