8.  Do you need an Angel, buddy, support group location, doctor recommendation, workout partner or friend to help you? what is an angel? I went to the meeting at Los Vaqueros with Que and Tom last Sat.  I'll take all the friends I can get. I'm receiving lots and lots of friend requests on FB.

10.  What else would you like to share about yourself? I walked out of the restaurant Saturday night wanting to have my surgery yesterday.

4.  What are your personal goals regarding WLS?  In December I hit goal.... I have lost 150lbs with my band!!!  Now I am trying to wrap my head around this thing called maintenance!

5. What do you struggle with regarding weight loss?  Maintenance and the fact that this lifestyle is for the rest of my life... finding a balance!!!

6.  What threads do you like on the TMB?
The daily accountability thread, the train and other various threads that pop up.

7. What would you like to see on the TMB that's not here?  Not really sure... need to think about this one....

8.  Do you need an Angel, buddy, support group location, doctor recommendation, workout partner or friend to help you?  I can always use a friend for support!!!

9.  Do you attend support group meetings?  I attend 2 support groups and after this weekend I will be an official OH leader and will have my first meeting on March 13th.  The focus of my new group will be maintenance, as I think we are the forgot ones!!

1.  name  Mari Praisewater

2.  Occupation   Chemical/Hazardous Waste, but currently unemployed due to RIF

3.  Pre-op, post-op or considering weight loss surgery?  Post-Op 20 months

4.  What are your personal goals regarding WLS?  to maintain current weight loss and subtract another 10 lbs from it which is difficult considering my current situation...too much stress, smoking and inappropriate eating.

5. What do you struggle with regarding weight loss?  Currently, I am struggling with the low self-esteem from being laid-off twice in a year.  I know it's not ME, but the economy, but it still is painful. This pain causes other ugly issues to rear their ugly head.  Started smoking again after 10 years...dammit!  Am not eating right, taking vits sporadically (but am thankfully still "normal" with my levels...don't know how, but am..TG!  I am also struggling with body image issues because of the loose skin sagging around the belly and groin skin rashes (sorry, I know...TMI).......Man, that's gotta be a MAJOR turn off, so I don't deal with issues with "gettin' nekkid".

6.  What threads do you like on the TMB?
I do the MMWI and I otherwise "lurk".  It's sad, because this place used to be my "home", my saving grace and my support system.

7. What would you like to see on the TMB that's not here?  I would REALLY like to see the TMB be what it was 18 months ago...great support, great posts and threads.  I really miss the OLD TMB!!!

8.  Do you need an Angel, buddy, support group location, doctor recommendation, workout partner or friend to help you?  I would LOVE a support group, but currently live in Alabama (DAMMIT) and the folks on the boards here aren't the friendliest or most supportive, IMO.  Gotta get my a$$ back to TX!!!

9.  Do you attend support group meetings?  Nope, the one I have found here isn't a REAL support group....don't like the vibe

10.  What else would you like to share about yourself? I'm single, the "Mom" of 2 worthless furbabies (Peeka and Ally), that I would NOT trade for anything in the world.  I'm soooo ready to get my a$$ back to TX, I can hardly stand it!!!  Come June 1st, I'll either be back home or somewhere else, no matter what!!!  I am also a quilter, which has been my saving grace in the last month.  I've really poured myself into the many UFOs (UnFinished Objects) I have, which has kept me "sane" since the latest lay-off.

Not a newbie, but I will post.

 1. name - Anne aka Laloca

2.  Occupation - Full time student, will graduate in May and become a licensed chemical dependency counselor

3.  Pre-op, post-op or considering weight loss surgery? - Post Op

4.  What are your personal goals regarding WLS? They were to lose weight and feel better physically and mentally. Unfortunately, the physical part did not come to pass.

5. What do you struggle with regarding weight loss? N/A

6.  What threads do you like on the TMB? - Not really sure - not on TMB very often, hang out at a couple of other forums instead

7. What would you like to see on the TMB that's not here? Acknowledge when people are unhappy w/ having had wls and not be always insisting that wls is the ONLY answer and that it is always a rainbow experience.

8.  Do you need an Angel, buddy, support group location, doctor recommendation, workout partner or friend to help you? Nope

9.  Do you attend support group meetings? Not for wls patients. I attend other types of support group meetings though.

10.  What else would you like to share about yourself?
I am one of the few on TMB that is sorry she had wls. My physical health has deteriorate tremendously since I had the surgery. I was NEVER sick prior to surgery - just fat. Now, I have chronic and severe anemia and bleeding ulcers that the Dr's. have yet to be able to fix. I also have restless leg syndrome now,, probably from the anemia. And several other health issues. It is important, I think, to remember, complications can occur not just during the actual surgery, but also years later.

Anne, I do understand how you feel, the last month I have struggled with just this issue. Since my wls surgery I have had 15 hospital visits and 8 surgeries. I am no longer a candidate for any abdominal surgery. I have been on and off major pain drugs the entire time and at one point came close to a new addiction with them. Your right not everyone has a good experience with wls. It is a scary life changing event. I hope you can find the peace you need with your decision. Have you thought about having a reversal, would that alleviate your problems? This is an issue I faced in January but a reversal would not help my problems and could possibly makes them worse. Often I have noy posted fo fear of scaring off pre-ops from the surgery but you are right they do need to see all sides of the story..the good, the bad and the ugly.

The only reason I am answering these is because Steph is right that the board has changed. For many different reasons. Everyone has their own. Some people won't like my answers.

1.  name Kathy Bender

2.  Occupation I work in a Federal Prison for 15 yrs

3.  Pre-op, post-op or considering weight loss surgery? Post op 6 yrs 3 months.

4.  What are your personal goals regarding WLS? Get Healthy and look like a normal person

5. What do you struggle with regarding weight loss? The consumption amount of food I am able to eat. People would just not believe what I can eat.

6.  What threads do you like on the TMB?
I use to like the train. But, it became a freaking whine fest the same people everyday. We all have good days and we have bad. But, hell at least make up some good days for us.. LOL

7. What would you like to see on the TMB that's not here? More love and acceptance we seem to use to have. (that is just my opinion) I would like to scream out to the newbies that the honeymoon will end. Your compliments will end. You will be like everyone else and it WILL get harder and harder no matter how great you are at using your tool. It is not a easy ride. You need us, old timers to tell you this. This is not a fairy tale. If you think it is, remember Fairy Tales end. I am not angry. I am wanting to help you. I want to tell you everything that NO ONE told me 6 1/2 yrs ago.

8.  Do you need an Angel, buddy, support group location, doctor recommendation, workout partner or friend to help you? Hell yes. If we could do this on our own why would we have had the surgery to begin with. It is a tool. Not the whole answer or solution to your problem.

9.  Do you attend support group meetings? My friends are my support, Since the one we had, has now stopped. It was awesome.

10.  What else would you like to share about yourself? Do I eat everything right NOPE. I struggle everyday. But, I admit my faults to everyone.  After 5 years and 4 months I started drinking diet drinks again. So, when you think you are strong, remember those little habits will creep back up on you. I am not going to beat my self up over this. It could be a worse addiction.
Would I do this all over again?? IN A FREAKING HEARTBEAT...

Love you all. I wasn't trying to be mean. Just honest.

Smile, it increases your face value.
