Disappointment

I finally made my mind up to call and schedule an appointment to discuss having the Gastric Sleeve surgery, only to find out that my insurance will not pay for it, I'm so disappointed, now I don't know what I'm going to do, it's not like everyone has cash laying around.  How do so many people have these surgeries without the help of insurance?

Most of us do have insurance that covers our proceedures.  Since the sleeve is one of the newer surgeries a lot of insurance companies do not cover it.  Does your policy have an exclusion against ALL weight loss surgeries or just the sleeve?  For people that don't have insurance coverage, a lot have used money from their 401K's or gotten credit thru one of the companies that loans money for medical procedures.

My insurance would not pay either But I went to Mexico to Dr Joya and got a loan with Surgery loans on his website, It is sad that insurance wont pay, I know they are now saving a bunch on me now LOL my meds cost them over 2 grand a month before my rny and now it only cost them 50 bucks........ you think they would do it just to save a money on a lifetime of meds on me.............. oh well I am happy and healthy now and on my way to being a better me.

will they cover another WLS surgery? MOst insurance companies will not pay for the sleeve, too new, not enough long term data, etc etc.
