My surgeon's office just told me that I'm approved for gastric bypass!
(this was done via email)

I sent back an email asking what is the next step but no answer and now they are closed
for the weekend.

I'm using Dr. Robert Davis in Houston...

Anyone wanna tell me what is next???

I've been doing the Happy Dance all afternoon!!!

Hugs to all!
Cheers, Tee

Tee, next step is setting your surgery date and if you haven't had all your pre-op testing that'll need to be schedule too.

Call on Monday and ask when.

Congratulations!

Congratulations!  You'll probably have your pre-op testing like Dana said and Dr. Davis will tell you what he wants you to do.  Best wishes!

Most docs require an EGD to look down your throat into your stomach.  Plus some require blood work or cardiac stress tests depending on your co-morbidities.  Congrats, it's gonna be a wild ride!!

Well so far I know that the surgeon has required, and that I have successfully completed: cardiac stress test clearance, psych eval and nutritional counseling.

Don't recall anything said about an EGD...but I had one a year ago and it was good.

hmmm guess I'm almost good to go!!

Thanks to all!!

Cheers, Tee

You're gonna be in great hands! Dr Robert is a hoot! Dr. Garth did my surgery last Sept. but I'm sure it's the same procedure. If you've already done all the tests you mentioned, I don't remember doing any more than that. 2 weeks before your surgery date you'll go on a liquid diet to shrink your liver and make sure you're completely hydrated...and lose a few last lbs if possible. After the 2nd or 3rd day I wasn't even hungry. 24 hours before surgery you'll do a colon prep thing to clean you out. That also went very smoothly!

I know have to wait all weekend is rough! Just call Monday morning and Jaime will get you lined out.

Don't forget The Davis Clinic has their own message board and Kimberly is very active on it, she's the admin. Check it out. www.thedavisclinic.com/messageboard/index.php
