Anyone know of a pcp around North Houston that is good and has dealt with DS patients

Not to do my surgery but to work with my DS Dr. when I get to have my surgery.  I want someone who is already familiar with this procedure???? any help will be greatly appreciated.......

I live south of Bellaire - so I have not pursued making an appointment.  It's really far for me....and she isn't in my insurance network.

 You might try asking the members of the S TX DSers group (via their Yahoo newsgroup) about this issue.   Dr. Kathryn Lewis (a family doc now in Nagodoches - sp. ?) is the leader .. 

 Also, someone with Dr. Erik Wilson's office (the DS surgeon in Houston) might have some local recs ..  

 
Sorry to hijack this post.....but is the DS Yahoo group up and running at all?

I asked to join, then replied to an email for more info from me..... and then was waiting weeks to hear something.  I was never "approved".  At best, that was rude.

Just have to wonder if there is really any activity on the DS Yahoo group.

I don't know as to the general DS Yahoo group ..  It has been kinda "snooty" in the past, at least 4 or so years ago when I posted there ..   

 Our S TX and N TX Yahoo Groups are both quite friendly, though ..   The S TX DSers have not been that active since Dr. Lewis moved her practice up north a couple of years or so ago.   I think now they only meet about once every 3 or 4 months, whenever Dr. Lewis can journey back down to (Humble?) for a meeting at their old hangout (a local cafe).  Our N TX group meets about that often, too, but mainly b/c there is not that much interest of late it seems and a lot of the group members have conflicts that come up (we meet in Farmers Branch on Saturdays).  I'll try to find the links and post them here, in case you want to join either one.

I don't know if Dr. Anvil Dara in Humble is familiar with the DS but I used him as my PCP when I lived in Port and LOVED HIM.  He learned ALL he could about the RNY and even asked me to bring him documentation as I found things changed, etc. so he could stay on top of my needs.
