Good afternoon all!!!!   Boy were they wrong.  1-2 inches???  Nothing on the ground when I woke up.  When I went to bed it had just started flurries.  Very light flurries.

An easy day today.  American Idol is on.  I watch it because I can't get channel 11 on the office TV.  Even so, I wouldn'****ch it today.  Repeats, thanks to the Olympics.  No****ching much of the Olympics.  Probably because I am disappointed in how much is not live.  I know most of the results before they are on TV.

Well, let me go get my lunch together.

Just so you know, you need to TAKE YOUR VITAMINS  AND SUPPLEMENTS and make sure you get your daily allotment of PROTEIN.

If you are new to the board, this link explains what the NIGHT WATCHMAN is (if you are interested).  Otherwise, just read on, you will probably figure it out anyway.

 Hi Guys,

Larry & Alice Cooper are a very nice, retired couple in Atlanta that both had WLS (DS) with my surgeon a few years ago.   They have been doing very well since their surgery, but, unfortunately, Larry emailed our group with some bad news last night about his wife.

Please keep them both in your prayers!:

   HI ALL,
ALICE HAD A BAD FALL RECENTLY AND BROKE HER BACK!
SHE HAS HAD EMERGENCY SURGERY IN ATLANTA SUNDAY BECAUSE #11 VERTEBRAE WAS CRUSHED AND HARMING THE SPINAL CORD, WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED PARALYSIS. THE PROCEDURE WAS AN 8 HOUR SURGERY WITH A TEAM OF THORASIC SPECIALISTS AND NEURO SURGEONS. THEY HAD TO COLLAPSE HER LUNG FOR ACCESS, TAKE RIB #10 TO BE USED AS THE REBUILD FOR THE #11 VERTEBRAE THAT WAS REMOVED. AFTER REMOVING #T11, THEY USED CYLINDER AS THE "MADE #11, THEN FUSED #10, 11< 12 TOGETHER. SINCE THERE NEEDED TO BE A SURGERY BY THE THORASIC TEAM, SHE ALSO HAS AN INCISION OF ABOUT 12 INCHES.
SO, TO SUMMARIZE, IT IS LIKE HAVING 4 MAJOR SURGERIES AT THE SAME TIME. NEEDLESS TO SAY, SHE IS IN TERRIFIC PAIN  AND WILL HAVE AT LEAST A 3 MONTH RECOUPERATION PERIOD.
THIS IS A VERY PAINFUL AND DANGEROUS PROCEDURE. I WAS HOPING SHE WAS THROUGH WITH ALL THESE SURGERIES, BUT, AFTER MORE THAN 30 IN THE THE PAST FEW YEARS, SHE, HOPEFULLY WILL BE ABLE TO COPE, BOTH PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY.
KEEP HER IN YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS.

Hey George....
Well, dad will be spending another night in the hospital.  Doc just wants him to gradually get back to eating and monitor in between so the best way to do that is keep him there.  They are also continuing to keep him tanked up with IV fluids as well as antibiotics through the IV.  Mom said the doc told them there is evidence he has a slight tear in his esophagus from all the coughing he's been doing.  Nothing they can do surgically as it doesn't need it - just time and NO MORE COUGHING!  Obviously the antibiotics he's getting now will help.  Apparently he has been able to keep down the "clear liquids" so gets to graduate to "full liquids" tonight.  If he keeps that down, then tomorrow morning they will bring him either pureed or soft things to try.  If that stays down, then hopefully when the doc comes at either noon or after hours, he'll be able to go home.  Mom is starting to feel blah though so she's got some antibiotics she's taking right now too.  Don't need her getting to the point where he is, that's for sure!

Definitely cold out there.  No snow, but radar shows that rain/freezing rain line is very close here in Katy.  My girls are hoping for snow!  Sorry, not me.  Been there/done that, I don't miss that crap....  Yeah, I'm a party pooper but don't care.  It sucks when you've been shoveling for hours and then the damn snow plow slings all that crap right back where you've shoveled.  Grrrr...

George.....Caleb does have Mono and much more than that.   We went back to doctor this AM his throat was almost swollen shut since yesterday.    Doctor said he now has strep throat on top of Mono.  He got a huge shot and liquid Loratab for pain.    Doctor said if behind tonsils abcesses then he will have to have surgery.   Please update the prayer list on this.   Also my middle son Shawn is thinking of stop taking his Suboxine for the withdrawls from the Oxycoten that he was addicted too.    I don't think this is a good idea since it is suggested to come off this drug slowly.....but as everyone knows....parents are stupid !!!   Please pray for him too.   He is making not wise decisions !!!!   Love you guys.   Also keep me in your prayers for the stress from everything.   It is not easy dealing with all this and I am NOT doing the best !!!

Hugs and blessings~~~ Vivian

GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CAN NOT CHANGE;   COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS THAT I CAN;  AND THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE !!!!    THIS IS MY DAILY PRAYER.
