Hey everyone- explanation

Corina...didn't you have issues with your band from the get-go? Didn't your band leak or something and had to be replaced or the tubing...something like that?  If so, your original surgery date DOESN'T COUNT!  That's the first thing.

Second, you haven't begun to find your "sweet spot" if you've had overfill and underfill issues.  You need to go SLOWLY with your fills.
I know you want rapid weightloss...Did you GAIN it all overnight?  Nope...so you don't want to lose it all overnight either.

You should be VERY conservative on your fills since you've had issues.
TINY fills...it sucks but if it works in the end that's what counts.

All that being said....it's CRAP to say
"It is suspose to take 3 or more years to loose the weight with the band. "

It moves along fairly quickly once you find your sweet spot and if you are getting your TINY fills regularly and if there are not slippage or leakage issues with your band.

YOU CAN DO THIS.  Slow and steady is the right answer with the band.  I lost 77 pounds my first year...I didn't have any issues and I stayed on a very conservative fill schedule...I went monthly for the first several months until I found my sweet spot and was restricted on my intake and was losing steadily.  Still...it was ONLY 77 pounds in 1 year.  HELLOOOOO.....I fricken lost 77 pounds!!  WOO HOO!!! Previously I hadn't been able to lose 20 and keep it off!!!

Celebrate your loss...move your ass...keep moving your ass and more weight will come off.  I didn't work out at all the first year.  I could kick myself for it.  I thought my band was magic and did it all.  Now I see how much faster it could have gone if I'd MOVED!!!

DO NOT beat yourself up.  You are fine.  You will lose, maybe you are a slow loser...some are.  The plus there is it also gives you time to realize what changes you need to make and how each pound off is making you healthier.

I recently had a fill and after a short time my band tightened up way too tight.  I fought it for awhile and almost cost myself my entire fill.  I talked them into taking only a little out and was very careful and now I have lost 15 of the 20 pounds I put back on trying to get re-adjusted.  It's a process.  I was cooking right along and thought I needed another nudge and it cost me.  SLOWWWWWWWWW is better.

PM or FB me...I'm here for you!

hey girlie - sending you hugs - listen to Kris and others who have been there - your band is a tool, you have to use it just right and  59 pounds is nothing to sneeze at - it's a great start   - now go slow with the band and WALK WALK WALK - listen to some good tunes and just use that time for positive afermations - say nice things to yourself as you walk and listen - it'll help - if you are up to hititng the gym too great - if not walking, as fast as you can fairly often 6 or 7 days a week will help :)  if nothing else being outside able to do something positive for yourself always helps with your mood and good moods make it easier to do other things - like get tiny fills when you want it to work NOW!!!!

hang in there and hang out here!

hugs

CORINA--I've known you since you first started posting--you were what--14 then? You were getting zilch support form your mom, etc, etc..WE were her for you THEN, and WE are still here for you NOW!!

Listen to KRIS and TRACEY-they know their band stuff-and have the bodies to prove it!!

Now..when it comes to "putting yourself down"..you can listen to ME...cuz I know about THAT stuff. I am my OWN worst enemy with what YVONNE calls "Stinkin' Thinkin'"...I kinda read thru the lines last week when you being negative about the Houston OH confrence..how you didn't care about going cuz it was the same old crap...yadda...yadda..yadda...I did the EXACT same thing a few years ago...but...in truth...I didn't want to go because I had gained weight and didn't feel WORTHY of being around the SUCCESSFUL people....Well...anyhoo...my friends here MADE me go...and I've lost 60+ lbs of regain since then, etc, etc...Sometimes listening to the "same old stuff" helps-you hear something you never REALLY heard before....PLUS...you can ask questions FOR FREE (well-after thaty small admission fee-but you know what I mean)..

Mostly, NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER stay away from the TMB. That will be your eternal downfall...Well..maybe that's a BIT dramatic, but I DO feel very strongly about this (can you tell?).

You started this journey with ALOT of courage and tenacity-and you STILL have it!!

Corina,
Honey...the TMB has circled the wagons around you!  Can you tell?  There are a whole lot of folks on here who are willing to give you whatever support you need to help you through this. I'm not a bander so I can't really help in that respect, but I'm a fierce supporter of OH, the TMB and all the folks who post here. If you need us, we're here!  Even if you just need an ear to bend while venting!  Just don't make yourself scarce and try to hide from the issues that are bothering you, it only seems to make it worse. Talk to Kris and Tracey---and talk to your Doc!  Keep coming back here, we'll get you through this lil roadbump and back on track! Even if it takes baby steps (and baby fills) to do so!!

Hugs, Mari

Hugs to you Sweetie~

I would listen to Tracey & Kris because they know what to tell you!!  Dont listen to the negative people, people that are unhappy with themselves try to bring you down.  59 pounds is great!!!

I didnt lose weight as quickly as others did and I did get really down but after NUMEROUS people slapped me around and told me it was ok, everyones body doesnt react the same I started to listen.  I had so many problems in the beginning, I even GAINED weight......I thought I would never get any where near goal.

I am NOT at goal and even have gained a few pounds (cant exercise because of some medical issues, major issues w/ family, etc..........life does get in the way) but I cant sit and beat myself up (I do but when my friends come in to support me I get right back up and try again)..........

We didnt put this weight on in a few weeks or months, mine was over the YEARS, so mine istn going to come off right away.  We do have to watch what we are eating and try to make better choices (MYSELF INCLUDED, this is a daily struggle) but we are all here for you!!!

Please contact the people that have had lapband and can help you!!!

Hugs B~

hey sweetie,

I can't tell you anymore than any of my other peeps on here. We are here for ya, weight gained, weight lost, whatever and whenever.

Don't EVER think you can't.  It might take more time, so what! You are a teen.  It's tough enough to follow a plan as an adult. Teen likes and dislikes are much harder.

Please remember you can hook up with Emma again anytime.  She is struggling too at 15 with the constant weight and eating decisions.  If you want, I can get you reconnected on facebook or something.

You have NOT let ANYONE down.  Get that thought out of your head.  I cannot really add anything else from what everyone here said.  But I wanted you to HEAR/READ it from me that you are NOT a failure.

Its perfectly natural to feel what you are feeling.  I once was there too.  I too had to have a complete unfil back in Oct. because I had gotten so sick w/ bronchitis that with all the vomiting and coughing it "closed" my band up.  I couldnt eat or drink for 9 days straight.  My body started shutting down.  Anyhoo, I was unable to get to the Dr. until the end of Jan. and I too have had some weight gain.

But you know what?  Thats whats so wonderful w/ the band. It will eventually come off.  But you really have to go back to the basics and remember how bad you wanted it and how you promised yourself you would do anything and everything to make it work.  My Dr. too has been very, very strict and only giving me very small ..5 fills.  I just went again this past Wed. and I hadnt lost BUT i didnt gain.  I have had to go back to learing how to eat right again and although its hard it CAN be done.

Just remember Corina, its 10% tool 90% us  and Please dont be so hard on yourself. You WILL succeed. I  believe you will.

Call me for whatever. I am here for YOU!
Love ya.

U tell me that I sin,
U say Im bound for hell,
So once ur judgment condemns U,
I SHALL SEE U THERE.

Hi sweetie.  First I'm totally ashamed that  I missed your surgiversary.  It wasn't due to lack of caring but more about some things going very badly lately in my life.  I could say I hope you aren't feeling let down by me because of that so I'm certainly not feeling let down by you.  I know in your head you're thinking only 59 lbs but do you realize how much that is?  Do you know how proud we are of you?  These days most teenagers I know are barely capable of the little things in life much less doing what you've done.  Do realize how many adults (well I use the term adult loosely for me) are pulling for you?  I've always said to go to those that are doing it and ask them how.  The moment you start to struggle talk to us.  Look at the successful banders here and know it can be done.  Look at Gina who turned it around.  And even as I use them as inspiration, you also cannot compare your journey to others because none of us are the same.  We love you and are here for you and do you remember me telling you about how much certain emotions can just suck the life out of you??
Shame
Blame
Judgment
Guilt
I hear those feelings.  I heard it all my life...my dad telling me how much money he spent on this or that diet.  It was like I needed any more shame and guilt added. I had a mirror.  Then I judged myself and blamed myself.  Sweetheart please know how many of us care and today is a new day.  Every day you start out fresh.  Forget the past, you cannot change it.  You cannot do a damn thing about yesterday can you?  You can only control right this minute. Begin your day thinking about all the things written here about how much we care.  Read it every day if you have to.  When you start thinking that bad stuff....that stinkin' thinkin'....stop it.  Any time you start that, ask yourself if you would think that about someone you cared about.  When you think bad things about yourself it hurts my feelings because you're saying that about someone I love.

Look at these two beautiful women....two lives saved.

all my love, Y
