travel plans for WLS

I am a nurse in Houston.  Please do not have surgery alone.  You need someone with you.
You will be weak and if things should go wrong, you will need someone who can stand up for you or be your spokesperson.  What if you have complications and someone needs to make decisions for you?

Sorry but I thought you should know these things.

Have not made firm plans yet....and will definitely keep your words of wisdom in my thoughts when doing so.  :-)

Hi Julie --

Your fellow Houstonian and fellow Dr. Stewart patient Dave here.

I expect to have my DS in March and what I'm planning to do is drive up to Denton so that I have a car there if and when needed.  I'm lucky in that I have my two grown children who live in the Dallas area so my plans are to stay with my son during the 10 days or so after surgery that Dr. Stewart wants me to hang around for any follow-up tests or visits.  My son only lives about 20 minutes from Dr. Stewarts office so it will work out well.  He will drop me off at the hospital and pick me up and then if I need to go back to see Dr. Stewart (and can drive) I will have my car there to use.  If I can't drive -- my son will take me. 

And then I'll just hang around my son's place until I feel well enough for the long drive back to Houston.  My son is not married --- no kids yet -- so it's quiet at his house.  When I feel up to it and want some excitement for a few hours I will go to my daughter's house (in Grand Prarie) and see my 4 grandchildren.

So I'm now planning on what all I have to pack and take with me etc etc.

March - wow!  That is coming up quick!!

I'm happy for you!   I am anxious to have my surgery - but don't think that will be until June.

You're very fortunate to have family so close to the hospital.  That should make it much easier for you!!

Here's to a successful and uneventful surgery - and a very easy recovery!!!

Sorry girl, but uhh you dont get to do ANYTHING alone around here lol.  Right girls?? TRUST ME ON THIS.. lord knows i have tried.. (and failed.. ) lol.  I even tried hiding in houston.. when i lived there.. didnt work lol.  my girls found me lol.  So here's the deal.. we got peeps EVERYWHERE... and our peeps are from allll walks of life and we work all kinda wierd funky shifts so there's always someone available for ya :)
And lord knows we all gotta Tom Tom or GPS of some sort and can find you no matter where you are ;)
So... just give us a few details when you have them.. coz the option to be by yourself for surgery just aint happening girl!!!!!

I do not want to hide and welcome help and companionship before, during and after surgery!!

Ya'll are just so nice!!  Makes me choke up and get all weepy. :-)

I will be posting my surgery date as soon as I have one - promise!!  Getting the last of pre-op tests done next week....so hope to know my date soon!!
