travel plans for WLS
I am going to have Dr. Stewart perform my DS - so will travel approximately 5 hours each way (via car) from Houston.
Here is my thought....please let me know your thoughts and if you think this is doable. :-)
I would be traveling alone.
Monday - fly (1 hour flight) to Denton and check into hotel
Tuesday - classes and physical at Dr's office
Wednesday - check out of hotel - take taxi to hospital --> SURGERY day!
Saturday - leave hospital and take taxi to airport to fly home.....family pick me up from airport and take me to my house.
My grown daughter will stay with me and my 6 yr old for a few days to help me out after I get back home.
So - is this a good plan...or am I being unreasonable?
Not thrilled with this - but seems like it's better than driving there, paying for a hotel the whole time I'm in the hospital, then having a long drive home right after surgery! Since I would need to stop every hour to walk on the drive home, it could take us more than 6 hours!!
Please share any ideas you have!!

Dr Stewart is my doctor! No Taxi needed.... I live in Denton and am very familar with the drive to DFW and Love Field both.... and I've got nothing better to do on a Saturday afternoon than to pay it forward....
Honestly, I'd love to do this for you....

Always keep in mind... there could be a chance that you aren't able to fly home on Saturday and you have to change your flight... does your ticket allow changes for this? Is it non-refundable? What about your flight in... could you take an earlier flight on Tuesday rather than come in on Monday (save a hotel day)

As far as the ticket - and possibility of needing to change my 'go home' date, I talked with Dr. Stewart about that. He said I can get a change for 'medical reasons' - so that won't be a problem. I will buy a ticket that allows changes....just in case!!

Do not have a surgery date yet.....but as soon as I do, I'll be contacting those who've offered rides and company. Hoping to have surgery in June.

and post lots as you learn to cook yummy stuff post op - I have been able to make most everything I or anyone else has asked for - we even did sugar free funnel cakes with whipped cream, fruit and chocolate one time at my townhouse in Plano - my sista wanted them!
anyhow stay around - post and listen and learn and share what you learn -you never know when someone else will need to hear what you have to say

I am already looking at recipes and modifying them in my head! LOL! Will be sure to post any 'winners'.
It's so great to have offers to help!!! I'm really touched. :-) No problem taking those that have offered up on transportation and company! I just think it's wonderful!!!
I have been lurking - posting some, but since I am only beginning my journey and haven't had surgery yet, I don't have the 'wisdom' to share you do.
