Help a fat girl out! Re: Skin irritation...legs
Okay...so yall, I know someone on here has been thru this and has a remedy... Gulp...I hope at least...
Do you know how sometimes when it gets really cold outside, or even in the summer when you are hot and sweaty, and your legs rub together, you get rashes on your inner thighs??? Well that has been happening to me, even though my legs don't even rub together anymore. Yikes! Help! What can I put on them to soothe the pain, and any remedies other than PS (I'm taking pics of course!) to keep this at bay?
I just have such sensitive skin... I sat in the steam room at the gym for literally 30 seconds earlier and the eucalyptus+heat had my legs going from clear and pain free to red and blotchy and painful within that 30 seconds.
Thanks in advance guys.

Kim,
use the clear diaper cream ointment called B&D or something. Actually any type of diaper rash type cream. Also aloe vera gel will cool it and help it heal but it can be sticky.
BUT to avoid it more, and this sounds weird, rub your inner thigh or thighs with solid deodorant. this will keep the sweat and irritation from rubbing. It's like a shield. I do it still when I wear panty hose, which is very rare, but it certainly helps.

Kim... BEFORE you try to treat it TAKE PICS!!! See a Dr.... I know co-pays can eat you up but it could be your saving grace if you are looking to have plastics at some point. Documentation!!! Remember most insurance companies don't cover plastic unless they can get some 'serious' medical reasons!! Take the pics sweetie THEN treat!

at runners stores you can buy a product called body glide. comes in a stick like deodorant. it is made to rub on any areas that usually chafe during exercise and it prevents rashes. works like a charm, even when sweaty and it doesnt rub off,.

I was going to suggest Desitin (baby rash ointment). It's something you want to put on at night AFTER you get home for the day. It smells REALLY bad, but something about the cod fish oil and the paste clears everything up in about a day.

I feel your pain, literally. I suffer with that problem in the summer months and have even had it happen along my brastrap line. I found that the diaper creams work great but there is also a powder called Zeasorb if you want an alternative to a greasy cream. (Like maybe after the sauna as you can use both at the same time.) I found it at CVS. It doesn't smell great, kind of medicine-y, but it's not so strong it overpowers any fragrance or body wash you may use. The Zeasorb is awesome at drying up moisture and keeping you dry. A little dab will do you and the rash will be gone in 24 hrs. I think the common ingredient in both products is zinc oxide which battles the yeast bacteria that usually causes the rashes. I tried Gold Bond medicated stuff before too. Whoa, that stuff set me on fire worse than I was already. Menthol and irritated skin do NOT go together.
Johnson's Baby Powder is one .. cornstarch is another one .. Gold Bond Powder also works well .. You want something that will provide "lubrication" and yet stay dry and not hold in wetness from sweat ..
I had a couple of SSMO neighbors back in MO who confided to me they actually used Crisco shortening to prevent the "galling" .. !

Thanks everyone for your suggestions...I am going to try all of the creams mentioned, and even possibly the body glide... Tawnya, do you think it will protect against the heat from the sauna? Because its just my skin being super sensitive...
Batwingsman, thanks for the suggestion, but PTL I've never been SSMO, and as I stated, my legs don't even rub together, it's really just occasional skin sensitivity... So I think I will stay away from using Crisco. LOL! But it gave me a good laugh.
