yep I'm back - working my way though my own brian and sharing it with you guys.  So while I know in my mind I have lost 215 pounds, my heart/soul sometimes forgets that.  I think that is where the whole cal counting thing the other day came from.

do you really remember how much you have lost? what do you do to remember? I am thinking of going to walmart  and having the teen hand me 4 50 pound bags of dog food and see if I can even stand up - maybe that will put it in my mind that I REALLY have come a LONG way - digging though old pics and scanning them in might help too - but not till my paper is done LOL

I know what you mean.  At my gym they have a pretend 5 pound blob of "fat".  It's hard to grasp my mind around the fact that I have lost over 40 of them!!

210 lbs., but that was 45 lbs. or so ago ..

btw, out of curiosity, Laura, what is the "simulated fat" object made out of and what does it look like?  (do you have a pic of it?)

It's yellow and rubbery.  If you search google images for "5 pounds of fat" lots of pics come up.  The one at my gym looks like THIS one.

Danni, where is your head these days, lol?  You have always been our calm, reasonable one.  Lately you seem to be questioning everything.  BE HAPPY!!  You've done an amazing job.  Look at how you can play with your kids and do all the things you couldnt do before.  My word woman, just look at your BEFORE pics to see how far you've come.  HEALTHY is the name of the game...DO I NEED TO REMIND YOU????  Now knock this nonsence out of your head and go write your paper!!

steph

got me thinking and I went back and reread my profile and found a couple of things that really reminded me I am healthy and that IS and WAS my goal - in may of 2006 so about 2 months post op - I wrote how I wanted to look like my kickboxing teacher - buff, nary a jiggle but shapped like a woman.  I also wrote about NOT wanting skinny at any cost but lean and healthy - healthy is where I am!!

thanks - and yes I'm bugging my roomie to get our room :)

Yanno I'm not in the best place with eating right now AND I realize it's time to put the brakes on.  I'm going to pull out those before pictures and put on my size 24 jeans to remind MYSELF where I came from.

Some days I don't know how I managed to carry an extra 100 pounds around with me 24/7 and you lost TWICE that!  I think about it all the time.  I was a part-time gym rat before I had surgery and I honestly don't know how my knees held up as good as they did.

Last Friday I decided to move my giant 11"x17" laser printer off the corner of my desk to the floor underneath to make more room on my desk.  After one of the guys helped me lower it to the floor, I popped under my desk to fish the cords up through the hole in the desk without any effort at all.  2 years ago I would have been huffing and straining and definitely would have closed my office door so others wouldn't see me - now I don't care.

2 years ago I wouldn't have considered that location because it would mean pushing my chair out just to bend over to retrieve the printouts and cutting off my oxygen.  Now I just lean over and reach and get them w/o thinking about it.

You wanna know how much weight 215 pounds is?  Besides the dog food, imagine 53 bags of sugar all stacked up in front of you - that is how much you lost!  Or sticks of butter, which is almost pure fat - that would be 860 sticks of butter, ma'am
