number of cals needed per day to lose weight
this doesn't apply to people who are newer but for all us old timers check this out
pulled up a bunch of different calorie calculators to see where I am "suppose" to be to lose weight - these are the answers
2433-2135
2498
2026-2285
2000-2200
2008-2353
1680-2486
3104 (fitday)
and one that said 3200
it's been a little hard to stay in the 1600-1800 range so I think I'll try 2000-2200 -seems kinda centered
anyone else find this a LOT crazy???

I got numbers around 2200-2400 when I ran my stats through the calculators the last time. Sure felt better when I was up at that level, but I didn't lose much. But I honestly feel like part of my little loss last year was due to the fact that I'd put my body through so much the previous year and a half.
Try it out for a few weeks and see how you feel. Especially with your activity level I think you'll find yourself feeling much better.
Now as the friend that I am, I have to remind you that you posted not too long ago about not actively pushing to lose weight again and being comfortable with where you were at. Mind set changed?
Love ya!

If I don't lose or it is too stressful I will quit - but after the holidays and Tim's leave I needed something else to use all that extra energy on lol plus I put I put on a few pounds (of real weight plus the water gain) while he was home. I have pretty well conqured that so whatever I lose now is gravey :)
I was just amazed at the differnce in numbers out there - plus I do normally eat more when i work out or Rach is sick and maintian so I wondered what was up kwim?
and yes my friend you do get to call me on stuff - now the touch has finally finished downloading the chapter I have a 1500 word paper to write off of so I will be good and study LOL

I have to eat LESS THAN 1000 cal /day to lose weight. Most days I stay around 1100-1400 and maintain. Anything more and I gain. That's why I keep each meal around 300 calories and leave another 300 for snacks each day. (Luckily my protein drink breakfast is only 200 so that leaves me an extra 100 for dinner most days).

I don't normally track my calories, but did last week to see where I am. Right now I'm eating 2000-2500 to maintain. I'm 5'7" and weigh 135 pounds.
I'd try a few more than you're eating now, but I'm not sure I'd go up into the 2000 range if you're trying to lose.

Laura - I have maintained for over 3 years with a loss of a little over 200 pounds (210-215 depending on the day)
I tracked what I noramally ate a few months ago and was way closer to 3000 than 2000 - I also work out a lot and have a nursling - when I wasn't nursing I was training realy hard - I just go though phases where I think how hard would it be to lose a little more weight but Debbi is right i was happy with maintianing a very healthy lifestlyle and I need to stick to that
the last week I decided to try a "sensible" 1600-1800 and ended up starving most of the time esp on days I worked out extra - I love my work outs :) and other than the water weight I dropped fast I didn't do a whole lot weight wise
so I think I am going back to just focusing on low fat high protien -I do lowfat/low sugar to keep from dumping however my body can be very adaptable - whens we were training for a centry ride a couple of years ago I discovered after 40-50 miles of riding I can handle the sweetness of a reg cliff bar, takes me a while b/c of the size but I can only when traiing hard however eat one. Normally about 2 bites off of Tim's or the boys and I am starting to get quesy -
I was just intriqued after seeing John post somewhere about how many cals fitday gave him a day so I decided to see what I came up with
it is AMAZING the differnet ranges of calories we all need to stay where we are suppose to be a and healthy

I read your post this morning, but thought I was gonna hyperventilate and had to go away. I know you've studied this and you KNOW your body...I know you do...but just seeing those numbers scares the holy crap outta me. Like Stef I just can't eat more than about 1000 cals or I gain. I took a BMR test and it was 1080 so i was pretty darn close. And you're like me so that's what I mean...I know you know your body and what you need. So go for it sista. Lead your healthy active lifestyle and leave that "diet" stuff behind. You know what to do and you know you can call or post if you need a tweak. we 'll talk you thru it. very proud of you.
