No Clothing Exchange at the Houston OH Conf? BUMMER!

Is this correct? 

It has by far been my favorite part of the conferences and I always have volunteered so I don't feel guilty about scoring free clothes

And it was an easy-peasy way to get rid of my big clothes, too!

What's the scoop on this????

Is there somewhere that it says there will be no clothing exchange? Or is it just not listed? That may be the case.

I missed the last Pasadena Support Group meeting, but I heard that Sean said there wouldn't be one and his info is from OH.  Just trying to find out if this is the case.  And if so, start lobbying early in hopes they change their mind. 

UR kidding, right?? Wonder what the reasoning is behind this? If you find out, let me know, OK??

I guess I will email OH directly and ask if it is true and why.

I know they tried hard to limit access to the 2009 Dallas OH clothing exchange by only having it open Friday afternoon.  After much complaining by the members and lobbying by Sean they reluctantly agreed to open it during "non-speaking" hours.

I assume their concern is people browsing the clothing exchange and not attending the meetings.  I am at a loss as to why they think this is a problem.  I went to the October 2008 Houston OH clothing exchange during the lapband talk and there were only 2 or 3 people there and the speaking rooms (both the main and the breakout room) were full.

I know my opinion probably isn't kind or even needed but.....   when did someone else decide that I wasn't an adult and I needed to be coerced into attending all the sessions at THEIR will? I paid my conference dues and attended the sessions I wanted to attend because I wanted to be there- not because I couldn't leave at my OWN will and go shopping( at the mall or the clothing exchange). We have a saying in our house when something happens that makes one shake their head... it goes like this...


SERIOUSLY!??!! 

I was at the support meeting last Monday and that is what Sean reported. He said they couldn't get a room for the exchange on the same floor as the rest of the speakers and break out sessions. Apparently OH, or someone, feels if folks have to go to another floor to go to the exchange they won't make it back to the main floor in time to attend the spreakers presentations.

Maybe he'll chime in with the details in case I screwed them up!

We were all disappointed to hear this. I know I was really counting on getting rid of all these big clothes that are piling up as well as getting some new skinny ones!

It costs money to rent rooms for things like clothing exchanges which might be the reason.

HOLD IT!  HOLD IT!  I JUST HAD A VERY NICE CONVERSATION WITH SEAN, AND WE'RE WORKING ON GETTING THE EXCHANGE BACK ON THE HOUSTON SCHEDULE!  WATCH HERE FOR UPDATES ON THIS.  I HAVE TO HEAR BACK FROM THE HOTEL BEFORE I CAN GIVE YOU ANY CONCRETE INFORMATION, BUT I THINK WE CAN DO IT.  SEAN HAS AGREED TO POST SOMETHING WHEN WE HAVE MORE DETAILED INFO FOR YOU!
