OT: Court update
Court did not go the way I would have liked.... Someone got to my son's GF and she rolled over on him.... the only thing she didn't do was accuse him of beating on her... so of course the judge said they had every right to take Violet and now they have to work the parenting plan for another year and fight like crazy to get her back.... the only good thing that came out of it is that the GF loaded up her stuff and moved out.... the bad is that now the judge has decided my son doesn't need a court appointed attorney based on the fact that I help pay his bills.... I can't afford to pay for him an attorney, so for now he's his own attorney, ugh.... he's supposed to be talking to legal aid about representing him... I hope they will help him out....
As usual, my life is a soap opera and the plot twists and turns keep me jumping.... But so far I've been able to roll with the punches....
You all know that I've been praying about this long and hard... one of the things that I've prayed for is that whatever the outcome is, that it be what's best for the KIDS.... and a couple of the things that has sustained me through this all is that the foster parents have both the Brayden and Violet, so they're together and the foster parents are GREAT people.... I know that if this is where the kids wind up permanently that they will have loving parents, a great home life, and every opportunity in life that a grandmother could wish and hope for!

KAREN-of course I'll be praying for God's will-as always, but I sure want what's best for YOU too...is there any way B and V would get to maintain contact with YOU? My brother and SIL have siblings they adopted at different time periods and they CHOSE to allow the kids' blood grandmother to stay in contact, because it was the right thing to do

So very sorry to hear about the courts decision but thanks for posting cuz we really care about you and those kiddos. Sounds like a good thing that the GF is gone. Hopefully your son can more on from her and try to pick up the pieces of his life.

Karen....... The main thing is that your precious grandchildren are cared for and loved. Sounds like that is happening. I am sorry that your son's GF lied about him and that the courts decided that he can get his "own" attorney. Life sucks at times as everyone knows about what all is going on in my life too. It just isn't fair some of the things that happen in our lives. I will continue to pray for you, your son and your precious grandchildren that God's perfect will will be done in everyone's lives. Karen, I didn't catch the earlier posts on this matter, but I take it your son is battling with C.P.S. to regain custody of his kids? 
That can be a very tough battle w/o an attorney.
To make matters even more difficult for your son, the legal system in Texas unfortunately often has a bias against single fathers, it seems, esp. when young children are involved. 
Hopefully, Legal Aid will step in to help him at no cost as you mention, but the agency seems to give priority of their limited resources to cases involving battered spouses, esp. single mothers with kids. 
I would encourage your son to contact the nearest chapter of Fathers for Equal Rights (I don't know which city your son is in) and see if they can provide him with some low or free legal counsel for his fight, or at least some good preparation to assist him in representing himself in the battle.

I'm sorry that it didn't go the way that you all wanted. And I'm not sure why they think you should be responsible for paying your grown son's legal bills-you're not legally responsible for him. That's crazy. Does he live in Denton as well? I thought I'd do some resource checking for you, if you'd like.

I just can't imagine.........................well - I had a similar situation in my family when I was much younger and didn't understand alot of it
