Facebook Question

Can I 'unfriend' someone? I made the mistake of approving a business as a friend and now I get spam from them daily. There's also a couple of people that obviously don't want to talk to me just collect farm animals and crap like that. I'd love to dump them, too.

also...is there a way to sort your friends into groups? I have WLS friends, diving friends and sewing friends...none are interested in the same things! I'd like to be able to sort them so I can find someone easier.

Deedles - hi.  Yes, to all your questions.  FB is in the process of phasing in a new format (grrr) so it may be tricky to tell you how to do these things - depending on the screen you're seeing.

To unfriend someone, when you look at your friends list on your profile page, there is an 'x' to the far right of their name.  Click on it and "presto" they're gone.

At the top of your home (or maybe profile) page, you'll see a "Create List" button.  Click on that.  FB will upload all your friends.  At the top, there is a box to type in the list name, such as "WLS".  Then, click on all the friends you want on that list.  As you click on their photo, it will turn blue.  Keep clicking until you have everyone on the list that you want.  At the bottom of the box, click "enter" or "create list" or whatever it says now.

Do the same thing for each group that you want.  In the chat room, you'll see your friends grouped according to your lists.  You can only send 'mass message" out to 20 people at a time.  So, if you want to send one message to everyone in your sewing group, it might help to limit the lists to 20 people.  Sewing#1 (1-20), Sewing#2 (21-40), etc.

To edit the friends list, I now have to go to "My Account" and click on "edit friends".  To take someone off a particular list, just click on the checked list and the check disappears.

Have fun.  I love using my lists since I have so many, many different groups I deal with on a daily basis.

I'm glad this helped!  I meant to add that, whenever you request a friend or accept a friend, on that notification box, you'll see a link "Add to list".  Click on that before accepting or sending, and your lists will show up.  Click on the one you want that new friend to belong to.
