Last night I was drinking a RTD strawberry shake....it was the last one in the carton, so i have had 3 prior to this....i finished it and had hiccups, not just a short spell, but i went to bed hiccuping....i was told to go sleep on the couch.....lol

then this morning when i had my scrambled egg with ham and cheese, the same thing i eat every morning....i had a short spell....

just now i tried to eat some pinto beans and felt it coming on again....

Hiccups are my "stop eating" signal.  I get it after I've eaten too much.  Unfortunately mine usually occurs about 20 min AFTER I've already stopped eating. Mine lasts less than 5 minutes.  Your's sounds like it lasts a lot longer so I'm absolutely no help...sorry.

I usually hiccup when I'm done eating.  But last night I started hiccuping and it lasted for a long while.  I finally took a few gulps of my water and they went away.

I get the hiccups sometimes when I'm full but they've never lasted a long time.  My nose starts running when  I get really full to a lot of the time

Like others, mine is usually a signal to stop, however there are other times that I just simply "get" them...  for no apparent reason.  As they are normally caused by a valve that isn't closing properly, sometimes it just happens.  Now, I've personally been prone to this most of my life, but they are more frequent since I have RNY...   Good luck, but it's probably nothing to worry about :)

Hiccups are a stopping sign for me too!!!!  They don't last long but between hiccups and a runny nose (weird I know) I know those are my signals to STOP!!!!!

Hiccups after eating can be a sign of too full of either a pouch (RNYers) or sleeve (DS or V.S.G.ers) ..  Same for sneezing, tearing eyes, running nose, etc.   These are all symptoms of "vagal stimulation", which is the Vagus nerve being stimulated by the pressue of the food in the full pouch/sleeve against it (the nerve runs behind the stomach)  ...     When you feel these type of symptoms coming on, time to stop eating ..  !

It sounds like hiccups is your HARD sign that you're full... my sign is full blown obnoxious make-the-grandson-giggle burps. If you 'listen' (ie pay close attention to yourself instead of socializing) you'll find your SOFT sign, mine is a heavy sigh.   IF I recognize it and stop eating, my mind says I'm still hungry but after I put the food away, I usually find that I'm completely satisfied.....
