Galveston Mardi Gras Help

This weekend is our 29th Anniversary. We love going to the UpRiver Mardi Gras in Jefferson but it was this weekend. So we thought about going to Galveston since we have never been for Mardi Gras. I know nothing about it, but it looks like there are quite a few rooms left. I need tips on where the closest to the action would be or at least walking distance with good parking. Also any must sees? Some of you Islanders help a sister out!

Hey Gina.  My boyfriend has been when he lived down there.  It's been a few years since he was there so he may not be of much help but I will ask.

Thanks Teena. i heard there aren't really hotels on the Strand and that is where most of the fun stuff is going on.

He said the Strand is where most of the stuff goes on but you wouldn't want to stay down there anyways.

Gina we stayed at the Tremont on the Strand and it was really nice but I'm sure they're booked solid for Mardi Gras.  San Luiz Pass and Hotel Galvez are also really nice but won't be within walking distance.  Check with Terry as she is our resident Islander.
