HOLY NO FLAVOR, BATMAN!!

WOW!!!  Went to Golden corral with my uncle for lunch today.  2 major things wrong.....1) out of the entire buffet line, there were a total variety of like.....4 protien (meat) items.  A mini burger, Rotissery chicken, pork steak, and fried chicken.  Most everything else was either starch, or carb based.  I had a mini burger, and some rotissery chicken; a small portion of peas, corn, mac and cheese, and bar-b-que baked beans.  As well as these like....cubed potatoes which looked like they had some sort of green herb mixed in/ on it.
The mini burger was somewhat good....little dry, but still somewhat good.  Next, I tried the baked beans...which tasted burnt.  Next I tried the cubed potatoes, and didn't even get past eating one.....It tasted like baked grass....in a way....it almost tasted to me as if I was eating lawn turf....dirt, grass and all!   Next I tried the corn....Thinking how hard can it be to mess up corn....canned or not.  Oddly enough, it tasted like water....with texture.  There was no taste to it at all....just texture of corn.  The peas actually tasted quite alright, so nothing really against them.  The mac and cheese, well....the mac would be a more appropriate name....as there was no cheese taste or flavor to it at all....just kinda tasted like pasta and some sort of gooey sauce which didn't even taste like anything to begin with.  The rotissery chicken had a decent flavor, I would have like a bit more...but at least they were on the right track there....the only thing I had against it was that it was a bit too dry....still somewhat tender, but dry.  Needless to say, I was a little dissapointed with the quality of the food being served.  But....what can I say....you get what you pay for.
Well....off to work now.....looking forward to the hawaiian pizza for dinner tonight!

Rose,

Based on your profile I'm going to say you have not had any type of WLS.  From a post op viewpoint I will tell you that your eating choices were CRAP...and I ain't just talking about how it tasted either!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

WOW.. why be such a jerk about it.  I suppose you never ate like "crap" prior to surgery.  Must have been a hormonal problem that cause you to need surgery

Whoa Sparky, NO Amanda has not had WLS YET and I think she was trying to say that she felt like Golden Corral didn't offer very good choices as well as it tasted crappy.  Personally it sounds like something I would of eaten prior to my surgery and before I had a lot of education on what good nutrition consists of.

Kyah, not everyone here is so insensitive and judgmental.  You are right.... I have found that Golden Corral doesn't have many healthy choices, and sometimes there food is lacking flavor.  I disagree about getting what you pay for.  They are not cheap.  Good luck with your journey!!

I LOVE GC..and can't wait till they open one by my house (their building it now...woooo hooooo).

Lets face it, GC is junk food, and is really not RNY, VSG, or lap band friendly. As a DSer I can eat a bit more fried food, and do partake of all the desserts, but I don't expect 4 Star food.

Our GC closed several years ago, but I never had that kind of experience there. Ours always had a large selection of protein items. I'll agree with you on the mac n cheese though, I never did understand how you can mess up something as simple as that.

Amanda - I notice you didn't mention any seafood. Fridays were always seafood days at our GC and usually included some kind of grilled fish.
