Antibiotics

My dr started me on Keflex 250mg 4 x a day yesterday.  Believe it or not, this is the first round of antibiotics I've taken since surgery (almost 19 months), that's amazing in itself. .... my stomach is hating them!   I'm not having nausea or vomiting, but they've got me staying close to the bathroom!

It doesn't matter if I take them on an empty stomach or a full stomach - same reaction.  Never had this problem before surgery.

Does anyone else have problems with antibiotics now?

  • Pease check out Dr. Connie Stapleton's Website. A lot of good information on there for all WLS patients regardless of the surgery you chose.  Good luck to all and I'm here for you if you want to send me an email.  I'll answer it as soon as possible.

my PCP is really my doctor's Physcian's Assistant... I prefer her to my real doc... LOL   She has made a real effort to learn about WLS patients' needs and the last time I had to have antibotics she was the one talking about you can't take this or have that and she recommended a LIQUID and ended up giving me Amoxicillin just like my grand-daughter was taking, except mine was 250 mg per dose.. LOL

After my tummy tuck, I had the most horrible diarrhea I've ever had, and we finally determined that the antibiotics were killing off the GOOD germs as well as the bad. They got me on some probiotics and it all straightened out.

Lynne is right, you need to eat yogurt or take probiotics . That will help the diarrhea and the itchys down below. Whenever anyone young or old takes antibiotics they should have yogurt even a tablespoon a day that has live cultures /acidophilus will correst the flora balance of the intestine.

Thanks, all.  Things seemed to have settled down somewhat.  I guess maybe it was a shock to my system, but all is well.

I'm on amoxicillian 500mg 4x a day for a tooth and I have the "EXIT" problem as well.  I will get some probiotics as well.  I am not having any stomach pain but the pipes rumble like crazy...LOL
