2010 OH CONFERENCE IN HOUSTON.....NOV. 5-6TH
I'm not saying its a definite no, because I dont know who the speakers will be, but I probably wont be going and if i do it might be just for the chance to catch up with everyone.
If RYD has another event I will definetly be going to that.
For $70 you got 3 meals and snacks. amazing speakers. A very nice location and hotel.
I just enjoyed myself more at the RYD event
(btw, I hope OH is able to swing a good deal on rates at the event for the attendees .. those Hiltons can be $$$! )
Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "
HW/461 LW/251 GW/189 CW/274 (yep, a DS semi-failure - it happens :-( )

There is nothing more important though this journey of WLS than PEEPS time...........if you learn something or even 1 thing at each conference - isn't it worth the peep time.......
Like I said early............this will only be about 4 weekS AFTER THE CRUISE............
PEEPS TIME IS PRICELESS THOUGH........
I was kinda BORED at this one that was at the Galleria though.........WIERD.........just seemed that there just wasn't anything to do..........really.............?? thats just me........
- Pease check out Dr. Connie Stapleton's Website. A lot of good information on there for all WLS patients regardless of the surgery you chose. Good luck to all and I'm here for you if you want to send me an email. I'll answer it as soon as possible.

OK, gotta throw my 2 cents in here. Have any of you guys ever been to a continuing ed conference? I know my nursing ones run several hundred $$ for a 1-2 day conference with NO free food and NO lodging. I was just looking at one in Vegas that would cost me over $1000 for a 3 day conference. So PLEASE don't complain about the price.
OH is a BUSINESS plain and simple. Do they make $$ off us old-timers? Not really. Who are their sponsors? SURGEONS~and the only way THEY make money is to operate on NEW people. They already got OUR money so NO, the conference is not going to be geared towards us.
I go because the conference is where I met the most wonderful, caring group of women I've ever had the pleasure of hanging out with. If it wasn't for these conferences, I would not of met 1/2 of you. So yes, I sit thru some boring "been there, done that, could teach that" lectures out of RESPECT for the speakers who so UNSELFISHLY have given of their time for US. Do I attend them all?-nope. I didn't attend the lapband or plastics ones last time cuz I have finished the "surgical" part of journey.
After the last conference I took the time to write a very detailed letter to OH telling them what I enjoyed and didn't like about the conference and what I would like to see in future conferences. Did any of you do the same? All I heard was accolades about how wonderful everyone thought it was. Personally, I found a lot of fault with it and I told them so. I was especially frustrated with their time management. We didn't get the hear the entire vitamin lecture because they allowed others to run long. Vitamins are something we ALL need to be doing, no matter which surgery and how far out you are. Those type of topics pertain to us all and I would very much love to see more about that.
Anyway-for those of you that are complaining and whining PLEASE take a moment and send an email to OH telling them WHAT topics you would like to see covered and I bet they will do their best to accommidate us. And BTW, I got a response to my email so I know it didn't fall on deaf ears.
