Vivian,

Please let us know what topics, speakers and all that they are having as soon as you know.  It will be a great deciding factor for some.

Appreciate your keeping us in the loop, Support group Leader!  ; )

I sure will Becky.   They didn't mention who was speaking yet.   I am sure that they are still in the beginning stages right now.    I will tell all as soon as I hear something......You know I am SO quiet!!!  LOL

I made a post about two weeks ago http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/TX/4096697/OH-Convention-c oming-to-Houston-11-05-11-06/#33382534
I should be there and I look forward to seeing everyone again (except for those that will be hunting LOL) and hopefully meet new people as well.

I've never been to one of the OH conferences.  What topics/speakers would make people want to come vs. not want to come?  I'm going for the support and assuming something will be of interest to me.  I guess I'm easy- seeing my fellow WLS peeps is enough for me.

If you have never been you may want to go.  It is a vast amount of information in a short period of time and you get to mix and mingle with everyone.

I have been to 3 and probably will not go to this one.   One of the ones I attended was so geared to pre-op and lap band, neither of which was me, that it was not as good as it could have been.

So to answer the questions, if they had more for those of us who are farther out, I would consider going, but I don't see it happening....

karla,

I think i'm with Que on this. If I have the funds and the time and can make it, I will do it JUST to visit.  There simply has been nothing there for the oldtimers and that is very disappointing.

laura, I would love to meet you and will do everything I can to do that. But I still hope that OH will get with it and realize they are losing a very important part of the OH community by not hearing our pleas to have more for us.

Thanks, guys!!  That makes sense.  I hope they have stuff for us further-outs.  I am going regardless of the topics and look forward to meeting everyone!!

LAURA-I respectfully disagree with my sisters. I am almost 8 yrs out and have been to countless conferences, While, yes, they are geared toward newbies, and the vendors and docs are there to promote their products/practices (as is the case at any type conference/expo), I always seem to LEARN something, despite myself...or I find a new protein/vitamin/recipe to try. I get re-energized watching the excitement of the newbies.

If anyone wantes to say they don't benefit from these conferences  or have a good time..that's okay..I have pictures...of them...laughing...dancing...

Mostly, though, first last  and always, I go for the PEEP TIME!!
