Recipe Definately not WLS friendly
CRABMEAT AUGRATIN
1 rib of celery, chopped fine
1 cup onion, chopped fine
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup flour
1 13-ounce can evaporated milk
1 egg yolk, beaten
1 teaspoon salt
|
1/2 teaspoon red pepper
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 pound white crabmeat
½ pound grated American cheese
Sauté onion and celery in margarine or butter. Blend flour into this mixture. Pour milk into this mixture gradually, stirring constantly until well mixed. Add beaten egg yolk and seasonings. Cook for five minutes and pour this over the crabmeat in a large mixing bowl. Mix well. Pour this final mixture into a lightly greased casserole. Sprinkle with cheese and bake 10 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Have over set at 350°F.
I would like to help you but you cant fix stupid.
Since I have not started on my DS journey, yet (except madly researching doctors and procedures), I am only guessing that the amount of flour and evaporated milk are the DS "unfriendly" ingredients.
Is soy milk (or almond, hemp, oat milks) "Off the list"?
It's possible to thicken the sauce with more egg yolks - but if you use too many it'll get "eggy" tasting! :-)
I'm a personal chef and enjoy making over recipes for my clients. If you give me more guidance on what makes this DS unfriendly, maybe I can tweak the recipe so it IS DS friendly!
