response to my complaint about the new "share" button

It all boils down to the PRINCIPLE of the thing..   The majority of folks are honest and we are taking a risk.. but like Tawnya, I'm gonna 'lock my car' and then let what happens, happen.

Whether we like it or not, it is their site.  We can express our concerns/fears, but they must make the decision on which direction to go.  By doing this, they can probably reach more people. 

Do I like the policy?  No.  The reason I don't like it is because of the effect it has on some people.  Am I going to change anything I do on OH because of the policy?  No.  I am one of those people that talks 'til I am blue in my face about how great WLS has been to me. 

I honestly do not look at this as whoring, but as getting out there more for people who have not heard of OH.  I am sure they did not just wake up Monday morning and say "Let's see how many current OH members we can tick off while trying to get new members."  I am sure a lot of thought went into it. 

I've been thinking about this... and I just want to say that  I do not intend on leaving OH because of this but it is a reminder that I think we need from time to time that nothing is private on the internet!!!!  I feel like I have to be more cautious because of my job... this year we got a lecture about FB/internet at work and to be careful!!!  Please do they have nothing better to do then spy on us???  Years ago I took steps to protect my identity on the internet.... Yes my name is out there but what I go by at work and on the internet are 2 different names.  Is it foolproof... NO but it does make it a little harder.  When I'm on facebook "old" friends have a harder time finding me and if I find them I have to explain who I am in a message so they will confirm me...  Do I post anything I am ashamed of... NO,  am I ashamed of my WLS... NO.  As a matter of fact people I know probably wish I'd shut up when it comes to WLS!!!

Am I worried about the average OH user no... but I do worry about the fools out here in OH land... and we all know one if not more!!!!  Yes the capability was always there.... but now it's right there tempting people and making it so much easier!!!!

I have nothing against OH doing this to get their name out there or for revenue... I just think a bit more thought needed to go into this decision.

I did decide to remove my picture for now... just one more way to protect myself.  I want to be able to share on OH and not have it come back to me.  Granted chances are I will never know if one of my posts has been shared or not... but it's just the thought. 

I can understand everyone's angst over the whole share thing, but I don't have anything here that isn't already on my FB or MySpace accounts as far as my WLS goes.  I'm proud of my decision and of my progress.  I don't know where I would be without the support that I've had here and on other OH forums. 

If I had been wishing for a change to the site, I would have wished for auto spell check!  LOL
