response to my complaint about the new "share" button

In the past, you  normally cut and pasted just something you wrote.  The easy way is to hit the share button.  But that shares the entire thread.

I think we all know that this could be done prior to the new share option... for me it's the fact that now it is so much easier.  Before you had to have some knowledge...be alittle more savy to do it. Now ever Tom, Dick, and Harry can do it with the click of a button.   I will probably never know if any thread I have responded to is shared... but I would like to have some say in that. I like Sarah's idea of being able to check a box saying it is or isn't okay.   With technology now days... that should be easy to program.  I don't post anything that I'm ashamed of or could cost me my job (on OH or any other board).... but I see OH differently from other boards.  I post things here I would not post on my photography board.... Things I post here are more personal in a sense... emotional and medical.... things that I really only want to discuss here.  I don't want to see it on twitter or facebook.

Right now I have made my profile private, changed my avatar, and my name.... I'm not saying that I won't ever go back to sharing.... I just need alittle time to think about this.

I just moved my signature to my profile.  It occurred to me that I also do not want my starting weight C&P to FB.

Thanks, OH for putting me in a position to do what I did for the last 20 years when I was fat - HIDE!

Then don't be ashamed of where you came from.

That's the whole point.  I AM ashamed tha I let myself balloon up to 245 pounds and while I don't mind talking about it here I don't want it on FB.

As for C&P to FB - I can see someone highlighting a single post and re-posting it on FB - but a whole thread with everyone's pictures and signatures?  Not likely.  I think we should have the option to block, that is all.

I so totally agree - I think that if we could find another way to comunicate together that would be great - As for the Houston bouycot, maybe we should plan our own outting for the same weekend - I guarentt that we would get a great crowd and we could just side around the pool and talk and play in the sun and have a great get together time.  - I am in, just say the word.
Life is what you make of it! Enjoy when possible.

I'd like to see if OH responds or just hopes it will blow over.

I'm ok with that.  The main reason I attend the conferences is for the face-to-face social interaction with everyone I've met here.  I got a lot out of the speakers early on, but at this point in my journey - not so much.  I am at my goal weight and not fighting re-gain (yet - *knock on wood*), I can't afford plastic surgery and I know what vitamins I need to take and how to eat and exercise.  So, have I missed any speakers?  Oh yeah - I am happy with my sex life - same as before surgery.

Sarah,

I have to agree about the conference as well. I am there for the socializing because I have seen and heard the same thing over and over and over again.

Now this last time, we got the Mediterranian guy and there was assurance that we would absolutely get more information on it as well as a link to the plan AND a discount..  still hasn't happened.

We were also told that there was going to be a new focus on those who have regained and how they can get back on track with special support and guidance.  Again, nothing.

I appreciate the affordability of the conference and how hard they work to get it to run smoothly, but it would be great to have NEW topics, NEW slides, and new speakers.

I agree with you on the conferences.... I have been to the last 2 OH conferences... the first was great because I was still early out.... the last one was all about socializing because for the most part it wasn't anything new just a repeat of the previous one.... it seems most conferences focus on the preop or newbie... we tend to be the forgotten ones!!!!!  When will someone wake up and realize they are missing a big part of the WLS community!!!!!

Seems to ME, that we as oldtimers are doing all the educating and reassuring on this board.   WHERE is the OH representation on this board to help out the newbies?  So it's our job to help the newbies, Okay that's fine.

But how do we not get burned out?  How do we keep from falling back in our old habits?  What is here or at the conference to keep US going.

Selfish?  Maybe.
