I've changed my profile pic and made my profile private as well now. I don't like this option at all and wish they would remove it pronto. I enjoyed having this site as a safe haven to discuss our journeys together. I'm very disappointed in OH for doing this. I will likely be less inclined to share anything now. I'm considering removing all my info and pictures now. Thanks for coming out and saying what many of us are thinking, Laura. I agree.

This really sucks!!! I've post already on the main forum about this....I agree this to me is a private issue, everybody now has made there profiles private. I might as well go to myspace, facebook or any other community site now. I've been a member since 2003, but now I'm back due to revision and I see a lot has changed.

  It's probably the same "any-way-to-make-a-$" OH of late that now has hyperlinks that automatically appear on certain words or phrases used in our posts, that go directly to advertisers that are related in some way to that word or phrase .   And the same OH that now has pop-up videos for advertisers when you first sign on to the website and at certain other "opportune" moments ..  

It took me a while to realize this was you.. :( I don't think ya needed to change the avatar... just the name change was probably good enough.. it'll take the google index probably 4-5 days to see the name change... but really, if anyone wanted to just google your previous username they could've..
and the facebook thing only happens on your boards if you want it to..

I don't think it's as bad as it seems like it is at first thought..
BUT.. It does make it an uncomfortable place for a lot of people.. and it opened up the eyes of a lot of people... too.. about how much can be seen just by googling our UserNames..

There's an "explanation" from OH services on the top of the Main Message Board-surprised they did not X-post it all boards.

This doesn't affect me personally-my life is an open book-IRL and in my cyber world- but I'm sorry y'all are upset.

Security and the protection of your private information  is your responsibility as a end user of OH. I am not defending OH but I am currently in college and in the last week of a class discussing this very topic. I do not have a facebook, twitter, or myspace account because to many employers now routinely search these social network sites to see what is being said about them and what their employees are saying. Now, I am not saying that OH does not have a resposibility to us for safe guarding our information. Everyone at work and in my family knows I have had weight loss surgery so I have no secrets in that regard but I do not think everything said here on OH should be posted on other sites with a larger audience that do not understand what we all go through to be successful at acheiving our weight loss goals.
