Good Morning Michelle/TMB,

Mardi Gras season has officially kicked off as of last week with the 12th night celebration. I posted a couple of pictures with me trying on my headress to make sure it fits properly and enjoying being a reveler.  This is my first time participating in so many of the activities here locally.  My soirée is tomorrow evening from 5-7.   I just hope that I can sleep tonight and work tomorrow.  I am invited about 250 people so rule of thumb is to expect about 125 of them to be there.  We will see...Laissez les bon temps rouler!

FAITH-how HEAVY is that headress???? How long do you have to wear it? Do you sit/walk/stand in it? What kind of dress? Can you tell I know NADA about Mardi Gras stuff (except beads, of course...LIZ told me...) ???

Hi Gina!  Thank goodness I am not the king or queen because theirs is BIG and heavy.  If I had to guess what the headpiece weighed I would say about three pound definitely no more than five.  I will only have to slip it on when all of us...the dukes, duchesses and the king and queen has to be presented.  I would say that is probably going to take about an hour.  I will have to walk the "runway" while they read a short bio about me.  My dress is formal and it will bring out the royal blue that is in the pea**** feathers...in the pic you can't hardly see the beautiful colors because of  the way my head is turned.  Hey, I am learning quite a bit too along the way and I am having so much fun doing it.  Let me just say participating in full Mardi Gras activities can become addictive and can be quite expensive.  But being on the court only happens once in a lifetime.  However, later on a few years from now LOL, I could possibly be nominated to be the Queen but for now I am happy being Duchess Faith.

FAITH-that sounds so exciting. Is it something little girls dream of-like being Cinderella or Miss America? I remeber your eyes really "lighting up" when you were first talking about it at RYD in Galveston (I think that's when/where it was..lol). You were positively GLOWING!

I don't know if I ever dreamed of it.  I knew that the royal courts existed for years now and I was surprised to find out that I had been chosen this year.  I think we were in Dallas when we were talking about it.

I've never been to NOLA before, much less during Mardi Gras.  Its so interesting the culture that surrounds it.  I have a good friend who is from there and before we became friends, I had no clue how long the festivities run or the complexity of the traditions. Outside Lousiana I really think most people think Mardi Gras is a single parade, beads and a whole lot of drinking.

Have a great time.  You look wonderful!

Thanks...there are many events that lead up to the actual holiday itself.  Most events are a party with a purpose...that is...fundraisers.  All proceeds from my soirée and the gala will be donated to a United Way agency here locally who help special needs citizens.
