Back Home

I'm back home from round two of plastics.  Dr. L. was able to take off a good amount of excess skin from the inner thighs as well as a lot of lipo on the fronts of both legs.  I also had the fat deposit from last time that didn't behave and anchor in so he lipo'd that away.  I believe something like a bit over 500 cc so there was definitely a lot there.  Pain isn't too bad but lipo tends to be pretty painful so definitely keeping up with the pain meds.

Only complication that I've seemed to have was my bladder which didn't want to wake up after surgery so after trying (and HAVING to) to go for a few hours he had no choice but to send me home with a catheter which kinda stinks but omg, definitely better than not being able to go!  THAT was horrible!!!  I was standing in my room in tears as it hurt so much.  My poor hubby and my dad felt so bad.  I cannot tell you how painful that was!  He is thinking it has something to do with the Dilauded pain meds I had there so maybe once those are out of my system, I'll be able to go myself!

Hopefully will get to see things on Tuesday.  Right now based on what I see, everything looks great.

Just a tad cold out there!!!

Jill,

One trick I did when I had my LBL...pour gently warm (not HOT) water around your inner thighs near your 'va ja ja', and I generally had no problem going to the bathroom.  Nothing is worse than knowing that you need to go to the bathroom, and you are in pain because you cant go.  Been there, Done that!!!

(By the way, I am the GF of Don (LostTxn)).

Oh, we had water running everywhere (sink, tub), but it didn't work.  The bladder just seized up and wouldn't relax AT ALL!  They said it was due to the meds I had in surgery.  Now that those are done, hoping it wakes up!

With me, it was not the sound of the water that would help me go....but the water running over my legs in that general vacinity...but I got too thinking, that might not be a good idea if you have incisions along your inner thighs.  Hopefully, once those drugs are out of your system, you will be back to normal....Happy Healing!!!

Glad to hear you did well.  Sorry about the catheter but like you say, it's better than the alternative.  One thing you can do to help is to clamp off the catheter for about 4 hours at a time then release it.  That trains your bladder to recognize the feeling of fullness again.  In order to clamp it off just bend the tubing and secure it with a rubber band.  Keep taking those drugs and get to feeling better soon.

Yeah, the not being able to go thing was horrible.  I think I will try that catheter thing later tomorrow.  I definitely want it to start working on it's own!  They said if they take it out on Wed. and it still doesn't work, I'd have to head back to the ER for them to put it back in.  DEFINITELY don't want that!

Hey girl....definitely feel like I've been hit by a semi truck sometimes.  They explained that the narcotics given kind of put the bladder to sleep and sometimes it just is lazy to wake back up.  I'm reallllly hoping it wakes back up by Wed. when they have to take it out again.  May be doing what Steph suggested to hopefully get it trained to not be lazy!  I just felt so stupid standing there crying not being able to pee!  My dad just let me cry into his poor shirt which was soaked afterwards.  I just kept telling him I felt so stupid that I couldn't do something as simple as peeing for Pete's sake!  UGH!

Oh I'm so happy for you Jill (and a little jealous, lol) I want my thighs done so bad.  Did your insurance pay for it?  My OB/GYN has been documenting she thinks we can get my insurance to pay so I'm going to continue working that way to see if next year I can do them.

Sorry you can't pee, I've never had that problem.

Good luck with your recovery.
