Is there a seniors group???

I would like to know if there is any groups for seniors. I am trying to talk my mother into having surgery but she thinks she is too old. She is 65 years old and weighs over 300 lbs. I am so worried about her. Her health is going down hill very fast. She aleady has to walk with a cane due to her ankles from the weight. I had surgery a year and a half ago and am soooo happy. My mom is happy for me but still thinks she is too old and that no doctore will do surgery on her. I just need to be able to show her seniors that have had the surgery and how happy they are. Thanks for any info!!!

dont know about a seniors group, but she is getting very close to the cut-off age that most doctors will perform the surgery on...please try to get her to a doctor very soon.

Yes check different doctors, some will do surgery up to low 70s others won't do above 65.

OH has a special forum for Over Fifty Peeps. I had mine at 54, and am doing fine. I never considered being too old, just too fat!!!!

I'm 65. Had my surgery when I turned 60. I'm five years out and have done marvelously. No major problems, only some minor inconveniences.

There is a forum that I'm very involved in. It's the Over Fifty Forum. We call it OFF. We are ALL a little OFF.

Just tell your mother to go there and introduce herself on the WHAT'S NEW we have everyday. That's like the WLS train on the TMB.

But her key is for her to be there daily to get to know everyone. Not only will she have unlimited support, she'll make some glorious friends.
