Thurs. B2B Report

Howdy, All!  I am still lurking but trying to get my act together.  I joined FitDay to track my food journal but am really curious about the suggested carbs/calories/sodium/fats amounts I should be getting.  I am almost 7 months post op and due for a 6 month check up. (Yep, a little late - Christmas break threw off the schedule a bit.)  At my last visit, the surgeon was not too worried about calorie intake but getting in the protein.  I would like to know where I should be.  Can anyone share their experiences?

Thanks a bunch!  Staying warm?  I cannot believe how cold I stay after losing 96 pounds!

Kimberly, everyone is different but I try to keep my protein over 90g/day and my calories at 900-1200.  Recommendations that I've seen are:  Protein-50-60% of total calories and carbs 30%, fats 10-20%.  I can't manage to be that good, my carbs are always higher than that.

Most doctor's are not well versed on nutrition.  You might want to meet with a registered dietician for some exact numbers based on your body, age, medical background, surgery type and so forth.  In general...very general....I'd say many of us fall right there with Steph and have found out magic number to be around 900-1200.  I can eat more and sometimes eat less, but when I'm in that magic zone is when I lose to goal and maintain.  You have to test and find your zone.  Just do it slowly and keep very good records.  Fitday is perfect and the health tracker on OH isn't too bad either.

And, BTW, welcome!!  Stay out of lurker mode and let us get to know you.  :)

Today was a pretty good day.

B: 2 string cheese
S: cheese and wheat crackers
L: 8 IKEA meatballs and 2 less than forkfuls of egg noodles
S: kashi granola bar
D: double fiber English muffin toasted, buttered on one side, 2 oz. Swiss cheese and 2 oz. hard salami "dehydrated" in the microwave.

Not my best day, but better than yesterday.

Rachel and I met up at Lifetime and did the Fitness Pilates class tonight. I couldn't do everything because of the muscle strain/pull I have. I wi**** would heal up faster. I'm so very impatient.

Hope you don't mind fitness tips from the fitness freak.  Bio Freeze can be a good friend.  I buy the roll on bottle at CVS pharmacy.  There is a smell, but feels mighty good and I use it when I'm going to bed.  Also, try alternating ice pack with a heating pad to get good blood flow and speed healing.  If you can tolerate them, anti-inflammatory about an hour before gym can help you through.  Then a god sit in the sauna afterwards to relax and stretch.  Hope you're back to your crazy normal self soon.  :)  I wish we lived closer together, we'd probably make great gym buds.

I don't mind the tip at all. I'll swing by CVS on my way home tonight. The thought of the heating pad has been wonderful. I just haven't been up for the alternating it with ice so I haven't done it. It's bad today though. It took me using my entire body to set the cruise control in my car on the way to the office this morning.
