The NIGH****CHMAN - Thursday 1/7
Good evening all. A nice cool day. Or should I say downright COLD!
Mary woke me up 45 minutes early today. She knew I did not want her on the road and our rear right tire was very low on air. So I got up, ate and then went to Discount Tire. They repaired the flat at no charge (so glad I have that extra coverage with them). Told them to rotate the tires while they were at it.
Glad Jill is in recovery and doing fine. Looking forward to hearing from her.
Just so you know, you need to TAKE YOUR VITAMINS & SUPPLEMENTS and make sure you get your daily allotment of PROTEIN.
If you are new to the board, this link explains what the NIGHT WATCHMAN is (if you are interested). Otherwise, just read on, you will probably figure it out anyway.

Meggie is in the hospital with abdominal pains again. She will probably be requiring surgery.
Meggie's mother has breast cancer. She has a large hematoma under it. It is stage 1 cancer and they do not believe it has spread yet and don't think they will need to remove any lymph nodes. Radiation therapy will be everyday for 6-8 weeks.
Nina requests prayers for her cousin Troy who has been in and out of the hospital since Thanksgiving. Also prayers for school enrollment.

I'm new to OH and to the idea of WLS for myself (I've been fat forever, just never thought this was something I wanted!) Briefly about me: 31 yrs. old, living in the TX Panhandle until June when we are moving back to DFW, married since 2002, adopted our first child this past Aug. who is now almost 8 months old, special ed teacher, my dad had gastric bypass a year ago, but all other members of my family are either fat or constantly dieting!
I have a prayer request for myself: I have been mentally set on the Lap Band. Even though I have always kept up with all the surgical options, I really didn't think I would be open to anything else (I'm a chicken!) Today it occurred to me that maybe I'm not scared of the sleeve. BUT, then I watched the procedure online...and it freaked me out a little. ANYWAY, I would like some prayers for clarity. For the first time in my life I'm at a point where it's time to do something about my weight--I'm confident about that, but I just don't know what!
Glad to be here and I really appreciate your thoughts and prayers! :)
Amanda, welcome to OH and I'm so glad you found the Texas Message Board, lovingly referred to as the TMB. We are a big happy family here, and you will get lots of support here. I will warn you to sometimes be careful what you post on the main board, because you usually will experience more trouble makers over there....
Amanda, please look more into other surgical options like you have been doing. While the lapband is a wonderful procedure, for the amount of weight you are looking to lose, you may have better success with the sleeve if you can get coverage, or the RNY. Please post anytime you need any encouragement or questions answered. We have some very special and knowledgeable people on this board, and that's what we are here for!
