Help? TMI Tonsillectomy
I'm home, and I'm alive. Not really too much pain, I expect that to kick in in the next day or so according to the doctors.
I am concerned about my uvula... It is sooo long and distended, and hangs down so low in my throat, I feel like I've got food stuck in there. When I try to eat anything, it's worse, because even with really well chewed bites (jello, EVEN applesauce) I feel like I'm not able to get it to go down all the way.
How long does this last, and is this normal? I've even tried chasing it with water. And I also feel like I want to cough something up out of my throat.
Will call my doctors office in the morning but I was hoping yall could help me in the meantime. I'm currently grateful for being able to keep anything down. I was extremely nauseous and throwing up in the hospital and right after I got home this afternoon.

I haven't had my tonsils out, but I get sever throat infections yearly and my uvula will sometimes swell to the point of blocking my ability to eat or drink. Anyway, the thing that has always helped me the most was taking some liquid Motrin. I'm not sure if RNY patients can take that, but if you call your doctor in the morning you might ask. It helps take the swelling down pretty quick.
They've been wanting to take my tonsils out forever but I've been too chicken to do it! LOL! Went through lap-band but can't stand the thought of them cutting in my throat. :)

I had my tonsils out I think 3 years ago (that would have made me 26/27ish).
That feeling of not getting everything done, coughing, etc...if I remember correctly, it's basically the skin that was soldered (burnt rather then sutured). It's like having a scab on the inside. It just takes time....
Hang in there.
It's a rough road but you'll get through it :-)

I'm good. I just changed jobs so life is about to get so much better!
Jimi Hendrix is doing awesome! He's certainly growing. I think he even hit a spurt so it's amazing.
When's the next get together? Wish we could make it to the Starz game, but we just can't do weeknights in January...nor any Tuesday's or Thursday's. :-(
