Has anybody had this happen to them???
I had my RNY in May 2007. I have had absolutely NO PROBLEMS!! Then Christmas day I started hurting and it just got progressively worse. Finally, about 2am I made my hubby take me to the ER in Amarillo. Well, after several tests they determined I had some kind of blockage in my intestines and I'd have to have surgery. So they started Exploritory surgery about 2pm on the 26th. When they got in there they determined my intestines had started balling up on my left side. They thought it was an effect of all my weight loss. I'm fine now and knew that intestinal blockage was a side effect. But I had no symptoms prior to hurting on the 25th. I am lucky that I had a good surgeon that fixed me!! My doc no longer practices.
I just wondered if anybody else had had the same thing happen!
Yes, the pain can be sudden and escalate quickly. I had a friend that had WLS that died due to a blockage. He was out of town and at a small hospital (not familiar with WLS, she waited to long to go).
Hope the recovery is going well. It is SO IMPORTANT that we listen to our bodies.

I was lucky to have a doc that was familiar with RNY surgery! I have to say he was awesome!! And yes, I even say he saved my life.
I will tell you that the pain was so bad I couldn't have gone longer than I did with it. When they got in there my intestines had started turning black but when they started putting them back they started getting pink back into them!! I was extremely lucky I tell you!!
And yes, I'll listen to my body from now on!! NO MATTER WHAT!!
