Back to basics-night-time report/ Monday

So how did you do today?  I just finished logging my food for today and so far I'm at 912 calories.  That leaves me about 100 for a snack later.  Carbs were high but I knew they would be.  I have 1/2 chicken breast, 2 pork chops (lean) and one sirloin steak cooked and ready for my solid protein choices for tomorrow.  Clay decided to grill in the cold tonight so I took advantage.

I drank TWO route 44 glasses of WATER before I had my first Diet Coke of the day.  Funny story was I was sitting at Sonic ordering my Diet Coke when Becky texted me about drinking WATER.  A few minutes later I turned into my driveway at home and my ENTIRE Diet Coke spilled and went all over my car seat and floor.  Not one drop was saved.  Karma sucks!!  Of course I had some at home but there's nothing like the taste of a fountain one from Sonic.

This is what I've had today...accountability is my word for this year so here I go...
Breakfast: protein drink
Snack: low fat trash mix (1 cup)
Lunch: ham sandwich on hard roll
Snack: SF Russell Stover 100 calorie bar (yummy)
Dinner: 1/2 grilled chicken breast, salad with 2T lite salad dressing.

Steph;

Sorry about your Rt. 44. That stinks. :(

My goals for now - until I feel more "myself" and comfortable in my clothes again are as follows:
- 4 workouts/week
- Pay better attention to my eating
- Do what I can to ensure I get enough down time to stay healthy

I had a good cardio workout yesterday and am a little sore today. It feels really good. :) Rachel (bluesun) and I are going to be workout buddies and hit the gym together on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Tomorrow night, I'm introducing her to one of my favorite dance classes, Latin Fusion. When I first took it a few years ago, I lost 1.75" of my waist and 4" off my hips in the first 3 weeks. Last year, when I lost my job, I started taking it again and my abs looked amazing, so I'm looking forward to getting back into it.

My eating was right on today.
B: 2 pieces of string cheese
S: wheat crackers with cheese
L: protein bar
S: wheat crackers with cheese
D: beef soft taco with cheese, lettuce and hot sauce

I need to work on getting my fluids in. My lips are so very chapped because I'm dehydrated all the time lately. I had two cups of decaf coffee and a bottle of Vitamin Water 10 green tea. I need to push the fluids before I crash.

Maintaining balance to keep myself healthy will be the biggest challenge. I was planning to go to San Antonio this weekend for my ladies club luncheon and my mom's birthday, but with how tired I am after putting in a 10 hour day today at the office and knowing that things aren't going to lighten up any time this week, I've decided to stay home this weekend. I already told my mom on my way home from work tonight and she was fine with it.

For tomorrow, my gym bag is already packed. I'm trying to figure out how to get enough food in before workout to ensure I have the energy to get through it. I dread putting anything in the fridge at work because the office vultures may eat it. I'm thinking of moving the mini-fridge we used to have in our bedroom in San Antonio in to my office so no one will steal my stuff.

Jen, you crack me up with the cheese.   I LOVE cheese!! The kids gave me a toaster oven for Christmas and it's like having an easy bake oven.  I've eaten lots of melted cheese lately.  Helps to keep me warm, too.

Hey I wanted to run the hydration thing past you, too.  I swear I'm constantly drinking something, but like you chapped lips and scaly dry skin.  Do you think it's jus****er intake? I was wondering if we can malabsorb that too.  I take my jeans off and skins just sheds.  I've tried lotions, creams, soaps, nonsoaps, and oils, but nothing really seems to make a difference.  Just wondered if you found anything that works.

Cheese is the only dairy I can still eat without getting sick, so I eat quite a bit of it.

My skin changed a lot when I first moved to TX. The humidity down here is so much less than MI, that the first winter I was here, the skin on my legs shed to the point my thighs looked like hamburger meat. I bought cold mist humidifiers for the rooms I spent the most time in and that helped a lot. Once my body adjusted to the lower humidity, I was fine.

Most of my dehydration problem right now is from all the meds I was on to get rid of the whooping cough. The ER doc had warned me and it was in the indications on the label that I'd be dehydrated all the time, but I had no idea how bad it would be. And because one of the meds was to keep my esophagus numb most of the time, I had a hard time drinking and getting fluids in. Hopefully I'll be back to normal soon.

Tawyna,
my doc told me that also im not getting near the fat i used to and that has a lot do with with my now dry skin.  I drink a lot of water now but not near the amount i used to. Do you take Omega fatty acid pills? he suggested that. Just a thought??

Hmmm...haven't taken those in a long while.  They are always so darn BIG.  Might have to put on the big girl panties and give them a shot.

I struggle with very dry skin too as a result of my thyroid condition combined with low fat now and cold temps.

What I find that helps - for the lips, I use Neutrogena lip gloss (can use sheer or light colors, but stays on well and major moisturizing effect, much better than chapstick).  For the face - a good oil free moisturizer daily and body - Eucerin body cream.  It's dermotologist recommended and excellent.  If you buy the 'tub' format it's thicker, but I prefer the tube/creamy version.   I put that on right after my shower and it helps lock in the moisture all day.   Have some trouble with chapping on my hands from washing throughout the day, but find that Purell hand sanitizer with lotion does the trick.

Hope this helps!

Steph, you got me.  I read the furst 2 lines and had to open another window to log my day into fitday!!!  lol  So, now it's done and like you, I have some wiggle room for another snack.  I didn't eat all I planned, but I forgot how dense and filling meat can be.  So no veggies with the meatloaf or berries with the oatmeal, but protein, water and vits are all on the positive side.  I'm going to try and paste my journal below.  Not sure how it's gonna look, but like you...accountability.
