OK...thanks Ladies, all that makes perfect sense. I think I'm letting the terminology get through first and not the real meaning of it. Diet and diet do have different meaning!

Karla...I'm scared to death of maintainence! Like most of us I could always lose weight, that was the easy part. But I never could keep it off. That's where my mentality thing comes in....I just got tired of being on a diet all the time and would get off. Only for a day or two to take a break then I'll go back on it....it never happened and I'd regain it all plus more. You know the story! And I know still being in the honeymoon stage right now I can almost do no wrong and I'm trying to keep in mind that's not always going to be my norm. Thanks to all you lovely WLS Sisters I'm hoping to get a handle on the mental place I need to be when the honeymoon ends!

You gals are great!

A definition of the word diet:

di·et1  audio  (dt) KEY

NOUN:

  1. The usual food and drink of a person or animal.
  2. A regulated selection of foods, as for medical reasons or cosmetic weight loss.
  3. Something used, enjoyed, or provided regularly: subsisted on a diet of detective novels during his vacation.

When I typed my post this morning I conciously used that word cuz for ME I needed to go on a DIET.  I've been very fortunate: reached goal, maintained my weight for 2 years and then came December and I gained 5 pounds.  The #2 definition from above applies to me today.  I NEED a "regulated selection of food" in order to get back to my goal weight.  If I didn't get back to basics, I would continue on that same path of gaining weight.  So YES, for ME, my DIET has begun even if it is doing what I know I should of been doing all along.  Once I drop these 5 lbs, I'll no longer diet, just maintain.

I get you Steph -- I keep telling myself that my diet is my usual food and drink. But after WLS, what is "usual" or "normal"?  I try very hard not to overthink this, but realize that I will use the word "diet" in my vocabulary for the rest of my life.  It will just have a different connotation than it used to...a more positive one, because now it will be successful and more along the lines of "usual food and drink."

Thanks! I haven't seen 'her' since my 20's! LOL!

Fage cheesecake is so easy to make. I love it so I generally make 3-4 tubs at a time. But for one 6oz tub.....
1 6oz tub of Fage 0% Greek Yogurt...can use Oikos but I prefer the texture of Fage.
1 Tbl Jello SF Cheesecake Instant Pudding Mix
1 capful of SF Hazelnut syrup...gives a hint of graham cracker crust
1/4 cup Comstock NSA Cherry Pie Filling

Mix yogurt, pudding mix and syrup together. Stir thoroughly for several minutes, you'll see the texture start to change. Put in container and top with cherry pie filling. Lately I've been putting about 2oz in the small Glad containers, that's the perfect serving size for me right now....well, I could eat the whole thing but I limit it to 2oz at a time so I can have it a couple times a day!

For a change....Fage apple pie. Use vanilla pudding mix, a generous sprinkle of cinnamon and allspice (I never measure the spices), and a capful of hazelnut syrup.Top with NSA apples.

BTW....we belong to 24 Hr. Fitness. I love the water aerobics and their sal****er pool, I don't tolerate the smell of chlorine. Beast has even started going to the aerobic classes with me.They have all kinds of classes, if my knees were better I'd have joined tonight's Zumba class. I hope you like it as much as we do.

B-Oatmeal pkg with milk I need to add more milk tomorrow
L-Thin slice Turkey and Cream Cheese Roll ups (2) and 4 med-lg Strawberries

Was too wacko-crazy this morning to post, trying to get moving after a long weekend was horrible. My plan kinda changed during the day, but this is what I did...

B: Protein bar
L: 1/2 C Low Carb Chili, w half corn bread muffin
S: greek yogurt
D: 1/2 C Low Carb Chili, w the other half of the corn bread muffin (was cold, so heated up some more...also cuz it's just dadgummed good)
S: 1/4 C Pistachios (with shells, so not very many) a little high in carbs, but didn't have many today

I'm a little low on calories, so I can see that I am going to have work to boost them up.  I can also see that I am also going to have trouble finding other things to eat this week with it being so cold.  I'm always wanting hot things like chili or soup cuz they help warm me up. Bad thing is is that I made a pot of chili yesterday and since I like it so much, I just warm it up and away I go.  I just hate being so cold all the time.

Mari- I just posted on the night-time thread about drinking hot chocolate cuz I'm so cold.  It was yummy and really filled me up as well as heated me up.
