Dana - I jusst found out that my Vit D is low - I started on a supplement last week, 10000 per day for 8 weeks - I would love to have the additional info that you have - This is the first time in 3 years that any of my levels have been off at all - Thanks for the info

I live in Texas - land of sunshine! And I drink milk like it's water and eat cheese...you would think I would have no problem with Vit D..yet last year my doc ran labs on me and I was extremely deficient! So now I take sublinqual drops - 3 drops per day with an OTC supplement.
It's called Bio-D-Mulsion Forte by Biotics Research.  I was on the RX version but I have mal absorption issues so nothing was changing. Once I switched to the OTC sublinqual my levels came up within 3 months. Truly amazing!

It appears that our use of sunscreen is working too well. At least that is what I'm reading is the reason we are becoming deficient in Vit D.

Cheers, Tee

This explains alot.........  My vitamin D have never been "normal", they check my labs every couple months, change my Vit D but it is never "normal" (everything else is great)  but last winter and this winter I have gotten SO sick.  If anyone sneezes on me then I get it.......lol!!

I cant find a good PCP that works with bariatric patients, that is one of my goals for this year!!

Thanks for the info......

Hugs B~

I, too, have been healthier this winter than I can ever remember and I am sure it is because of the extra vitamins I take.  Twice my son and husband came down with the crud and I usually followed, but not this year *knock on wood*.

I am head of the Health Wellness Committee at work and every year I try to come up with something new.  I have implemented reimbursement for health club memberships, we have had health fairs, had a company come out and do ultrasound scans on our arteries and the quickie foot scan for osteoporosis.

This year I decided to see if I could get a company to come out and draw blood and test everyone's vitamin D levels since this is not routinely done and there are more and more studies that indicate the general population is low.
