WLS and Chantix

Holly, I feel your pain and can completely sympathize with you.  I smoked 1.5 packs a day for 34 years.  I LOVED smoking but my doc refused to do my WLS unless I quit.  So it was decision time.  I had a long talk with one of my doctors and she gave me a formula to quit and it worked.  Now let me tell you that I couldn't fly on a plane for more than 3 hours because I HAD to have a cigarette.  I was completely and totally addicted.  OK, on to the plan...

1.  Pick a day 3 weeks in the future.  Write it in INK on the calendar.
2.  The first day I put 30 cigs aside to smoke.
3.  Day 2- I put 20 cigs aside to smoke.
4.  Day's 3-5 I smoked 15 cigs a day
5.  Days 6-10 I smoked 8 cigs a day
6.  Days 11-15 I smoked 4 cigs a day
7.  Days 16-17 I smoked 2 cigs a day
8.  Days 18-20 I smoked 1 cig a day
9.  Day 21 I stayed extremely busy at work and chewed my nicorette gum faithfully and never smoked another cigarette.

It's been 3.5 years and I have so much more freedom now and I have TONS more money.  And I didn't gain any weight.  I only bought one box of nicorette gum cuz my nicotine levels were down so much that quitting was EASY.  I never even wanted one again.

One note about the gum-you have to chew it according to the package directions.  You DON'T chew it like normal gum.  You chew it just to activate it and "park it" between your teeth and gumline cuz that's where the nicotine gets absorbed.

I'm here for you if you need anything.  Call or text and I'll talk you down.  It's hard to get up the nerve but once you do, it's SO worth it!!
