Totally Elfing Thursday-Christmas Eve WLS express
How is everyone? Ready or not tomorrow is the big day. Our tradition has always been early service at church, soup and salad in between-dad always made a different kind each year- then late service and then us kids would get to open 1 present that night and then off to bed until Christmas morn. I just KNEW I hear Santa's sleigh and footsteps on our roof one night- I was so excited.
Prayers for all those who are in ill health. I pray for recovery and a healthy 2010 for all. I pray Eric is out of pain like the doc promised, that Gaye is recovering well, that Gina's Richard gets well soon, that all those recovering from surgery and plastics heal quickly. Vivian- how are you doing in your recovery? I know I'm forgetting someone-I'm sorry- I don't mean to.
Danni-hope you are having a blast with family-sounds like you are.
Michelle-don't overdo it there with the family coming-rest too you know-even if you're too excited to sleep!
Dana-how is your little guy?
Kathy- I miss seeing your posts-they inspire me -I hope you are doing well.
I hope and pray for each and every one of you a great day today, a merry Christmas tomorrow, and a healthy and happy new year! I'll try to check back later today- 2 days ago I started the train and didn't get bac****il late that night and I didn't do well yesterday!
take care!!
Alissa
I remember being a little girl, and we lived in this up stairs apartment. My mom was having a really hard time getting my sister and myself to go to sleep. Dad actually got on the roof and rang jingle bells so we would think he was coming. When we got up the next morning there were footprints on the roof, and a half eaten carrot on the ground. Just something I will never forget

Good Morning Alissa and the rest of my TMB Family,
Happy Christmas Eve to all. I just saw on the weather that Dallas is going to have a white christmas and that OKC is getting 3 - 5". What a mess it will be thats for sure. I am waiting for our snow to go away just a little. It is so hard to get out, the roads are a mess still. Mark is still carrying the standby phone wich means he will be on call over Christmas. I understand him doing it (cause all his troops are on 12 hour snow removal) but does not mean I have to like it. Guess it could be worse and he could be deployed. As long as he is around on Saturday when we plan to have our Christmas with Tim and John. I am so not happy with my weight these days. Every morning I wake up and say Ok today I will just stick with protein, no carbs and every day I end up eating a ton of carbs. Of course it does not help that I am baking, and need to try everything out before and after the oven. Please help me out here and give me some ideas as to how to stick to the protein and stay away from the carbs. Normally on Christmas eve we would go to church as a family, but since we dont really have a church here I think we will stay put. I am going to make some Corn Chowder for dinner. Hopefully can get Eric into bed early so we can do the Santa stuff and get to bed early ourselves. Prayers this morning for all in need but especially Jenny and Eric. Have a safe and Merry Christmas. Love you guys
WOOOOOHOOOO for Christmas Eve!!!! Alissa, honey, your excitement is showing.... LOL and contagious too, everyone seems to have caught it.... I'm having a great time visiting with my Mom... my sister-in-law has decided that I'm going to be cooking all the desserts for Christmas dinner, but I guess I can handle that.... sampling will be a big problem.... but I'll have help with that I'm sure.... LOL
Prayers are going up for all that need them!
One more funny, sing-a-long song to get us through the day!
Grandma got run over by a reindeer.
Walking home from our house Christmas eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
But as for me and grandpa we believe.
She'd been drinking too much eggnog,
And we begged her not to go.
But she forgot her medication, and she
Staggered out the door into the snow.
When we found her Christmas morning,
At the scene of the attack,
She had hoof-prints on her forehead,
And incriminating Claus marks on her back.
Now we're all so proud of grandpa,
He's been taking this so well.
See him in there watching football,
Drinking root beer and
Playing cards with Cousin Mel.
It's not Christmas without Grandma,
All the family's dressed in black
And we just can't help but wonder:
Should we open up her gifts,
Or send them back?
Send them back!!
Now the goose is on the table
And the pudding made of fig
And the blue and silver candles
That would just have matched
The hair on grandma's wig.
I've warned all my
Friends and neighbors
Better watch out for yourselves,
They should never give a license
To a man who drives a sleigh
And plays with elves.
Ya'll have a great Christmas Eve my friends!

Good morning everyone! It's a rainy Christmas Eve! Not much going on here. Therese is making a photo album for Mom and Dad to replace their wedding album that is falling apart. She's stamping and coloring the leather cover and I'm supposed to be doing the pages for the photos, but I have no idea what I'm doing!! I've never scrapbooked so I'm totally lost! And the pages are only 8" x 8" and we can't crop the photos. Any ideas?? Is there a store I can go to to get help?
Three day weekend! I'm so looking forward to it! I'm still hoping that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission calls me to let me know I have a job. Wouldn't that be a great way to start my new year??? Yes! Keep your fingers crossed. The drive will be longer because I'd have to drive to Arlington, but it would be worth it! Totally!!
Well, better get into the shower and get to work. I'm going to see if I can get off early today. We still have to go by Hobby Lobby and get some more stuff for the wedding album.
Oh, Christmas Eve tradition. We usually sit around eating on snack trays, meat and cheese and dips and chips, and then about 8 pm we open presents. We had to have the tree free for Santa to leave presents under it! So we'll open our gifts tonight! But their probably won't be much because of the money we spent on the Anniversary party. And the phones! Oh well, we don't need much! We'll just be together and love each other and I pray that Dad and I won't get into an argument!! Keep your fingers crossed for that one too!
Y'all have a great day! Love ya!

However, this year we are going to my brother's house instead, which bothers me greatly. It's like we've decided our mom won't be around much longer, but she's in good health and can run circles around most of us. It 's going to be a nightmare because his bachelor pad is definitely NOT baby-proof, and it's 3 stories so lots of stairs for them to fall down.
When my motherinlaw was alive, and I was still married to the troll, she'd insist on us attending the midnight candlelight service at her church. While it's a lovely service, it's really hard to keep little ones up that late, plus she always thought it was cute to give my toddler (Miranda) a lit candle to hold. I miss her, but I DON'T miss that stress!

Merry Christmas Eve, my family! I pray everyone is able to stay warm and SAFE. I worry about those out in the weather (me included..lol...as I go to and from work-right out there with all the other idiots on the road, who don't drive any better than I do)
Christmas Eve has been at my house, since my boys were little (yes they WERE actually little at one time). Corbin's dad and I never fought and never did that "every other year" BS.We worked things out to best benefit CORBIN. He stayed with me until around 10pm Christmas Eve each year, then his dad picked him up, and brought him back around supper time Christmas day. Chris used to be jealous that Corbin got "2 Christmases" and HE wanted "another dad too". We always had extra stuff for Chris for Christmas day, but he still wanted MORE...some things have NOT changed over the years...Tonight it'll be my DH, my 2 boys, my mom, 2 sisters,1 BIL, my neice with 2 y/o Brayden. one 14 y/o nephew, and my Army nephew from Ft. Hood, along with Corbin's best friend, whose prefers spending Christmas with us, for some reason. It's Chris's turn to read the story of the birth of Christ, from the Bible. My siblings and I always took turns-but there were SIX of us, so I think I only had TWO turns my whole life!
Last night we had Christmas with my sister's grandkids, ages 3 and 4 (plus Brayden), because the others are going to Houston to Houston tonight. They belong to my Ft. Hood nephew, whose stupid wife has filed for divorce. What a ***** Oops...that wasn't very "Christmasey" of me, was it??? My sister had gotten Ian and Kylee bikes, but had gotten Brayden a DESK. Brayden looked at me with those big brown eyes and said "Where's my bike?"....Well...of course...AUNT GIGI went to WalMart at 10pm and now there a bike hidden in Chris's room, with Brayden's name on it, for tonight...and it will stay at AUNT GIGI's house. Do y'all see why a FAMILY OF CHOICE is such a wonderful thing????
Sure wish I could stay home today, but just cannot be a happenin' thing, so best be scootin' out of here. Prayers all around, with special ones for our ERIC R
PLEASE STAY SAFE.

We Can Do Hard Things
Our Christmas Eve tradition is gumbo at my sister's house and then fireworks for the kiddos. I don't care for fireworks, I never have but suffer the noise for the sake of all our sweetie pumpkins. Not sure how this is work out today with all the rain.
I need to run out today too and pick up stocking stuffers, I forgot *oops*.
Merry Christmas to everyone, enjoy your families and be sure to tell them you love them.
Oh I didn't mention Mass either, how did I forget that :(. Our family attends Mass before the gumbo at sisters house. It's always a great experience to attend with 2 of my sisters (the ones that grew up in the same house) their children and Mom and Step-Dad. I love Christmas Mass and all the beautiful music.
