Hi Mel!
First congratulations on your upcoming surgery. I am almost 3 yrs out from band surgery, and have done pretty darn good. Everyone is different. For the first 3-4 weeks, I was not hungry due to the swelling. You may not have much restriction right after surgery depending on your band type. I have the old 4cc band, which was not primed at all. Some of the newer bands they are priming with some fluid when they place them, it all depends on you, and what band they are putting in. You may not have any restriction until you have had 2-4 fills. Use this time to practice eating very small bites, and chewing well. As will all of the surgeries, sip, sip, sip, walk, walk, walk. Walking gets the gas out of your body, and sipping needs to be done so that you stay hydrated. Please let me know if I can assist further. Kris M, and her hubs Chris M, along with Nina (Mxekin65), and Tracey C are all sucessful bandsters here.
Good Luck!
Blessings,
Avis
