It doesnt matter what i drink or when....hot or cold, sweetened or watered

i have even tried 1% milk and it still burns....ive even dissolved my prevacid and then drank...still burns....

I drink no matter the discomfort....but it would be nice to have something to drink and enjoy..

I would think if it's stomach acid the Prevacid would help.

Maybe you need to try a Zantac chewable or one of the quick acting ones.  Something a little stronger than a Rolaid or Tums.  Pepcid AC has a chewable that works pretty quickly.

If you don't get some relief from the burning with that, I'd call doc first thing in the morning.

Thanks Jodie,

I finally was able to keep some beef broth on my stomach, everything else just passed right on through...

today is 2 weeks out and i could eat not-pureed food...so i guess its just another new beginning.

The nurses gave me Pepcid Complete in the hospital. It's a chewable that dissolves easily. Do half at a time at first and be sure to chew well before swallowing.

Tara...if it is still doing it today I would call the dr. like Jodi said.  It may be nothing, but could be something.  Better to check it out than not and the dr. could be closed next week for the holidays!
Hope it gets better.

I am glad you figured it out.  I don't remember having any raw vegetables for 6 weeks or so - not even tomatoes.  Take it easy, lady!

In the beginning I had severe reflux and burning.  I had to sleep sitting up for at least the first 4 weeks.  One night I woke out of a dead sleep and my chest was ON FIRE!!! I felt like I was having a heart attack.  The pain was so bad I instinctively took a breath HUGE mistake I sucked some of the reflux/acid into my lungs. THE PAIN was excruciating.  Then I spent the next 30 minutes hacking up yellow acid.  Yuck not fun. After that I kept a small trash can right next to my bed to spit the acid into if it rose up in my mouth.  I know YUCK. In the beginning I had to take a prilosec first thing in the morning with SILK soy milk to calm the burn.  The milk REALLY helped, but didn't take it away.  Then I would take another prilosec mid to late afternoon.  Doc. said some people's stomach's take time to adjust the acid production to a smaller stomach and that it would get better with time.  It has.  For a while  was on Protonics.  Now I am able to just take one prilosec a day.  I almost never have any burning or problems now unless I miss my pill.  And that is saying something because I had it bad.  I still can't miss a day though.  It is the first thing in my body every morning with 4 oz of soy milk.  I can't handle real milk now.  I buy the off brand prilosec from Sam's in bulk.  BTW I have tried many acid reducers and blockers including prescription ones...Nexiun (did not help at all...Tums worked better).  Try different meds, take them with a milk product to coat the stomach, and give it time, it will most likely get better. Just my two cents and experience for what it's worth...=)
